You sound like a tester too and I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure of this. Obviously I would check the manual when testing to double check

Yeah it's all very confusing mate, makes me want to turn around to my boss and say I don't want to test anymore just repair. Too much of a headache these days
When i start my car from cold and the secondary air pump kicks in (during choke) it sounds like a Dyson hoover, i've tried re-sealing the pump but it didnt work and im not buying a new one at a £300 cost.
No benefit of removing it except the noise goes away when i start it from cold. I believe the pump is simply there to heat the cat up quicker during choke to reduce emissions or something.

Ah right I see, didn't realise you had a fault with it. I know exactly what you mean tho a mate of mine had his go on his Audi tt, sounded terrible when he started it up
Yeah it's been blowing since i got it but i knew it was a common fault, the older ones, mk3's etc are held together with rivets which you can replce with bolts to stop the noise but the mk4 ones are sealed

No mines fine. I like my secondary air pump, the car feels like it's going to take off from cold

I'd happily replace it if it wasn't so dam expensive, less than £20 to remove it or £300 for a new one is a no brainer lol

Don't blame you mate I'd do exactly the same thing and will if mine ever goes. How's your motor anyway apart from that, any annoying things?
One of 2 wee things annoying me about it. Nothing to do with how it drives though, it's spot on no problems there, just a couple rattles and things.
There's a rattle from the speedo surround, the clear plastic rattling against the black plastic, easily fixed. When the windows are partially down they rattle as well, the wee locator clip in the door frame needs bending back to stop this.

Aye common problems it appears, there is a knocks and rattles threads for the mk4's. Says in that there's a wee latch like thing behind the door card to keep the window firmly in place, over time it bends so needs bending back to fix the rattle lol
I've got a dreadful rattle from my interior light under acceleration! It's god dam annoying!
On the Sai front, mine does this and it's a diesel I think it sounds good, but I think it's just the turbo as I hear it through my new exhaust
