Philips Blue Vision Bulbs

I have done a search and couldnt find any feedback on the Blue Vision Bulbs. Has anyone had a bash with them yet? I was just thinking about getting the H7 headlight & W5W side light, dont fancy the full beam as its not used so often

I've fitted Osram silverstars on dip and main beam. They are bighter than standard

Same here, I fitted the Osram SilverStar main and dipped beam. Much better than standard. I bought them from www.powerbulbs.com and they included a set of Osram sidelights free of charge.

I installed the Vision Plus for Main/Dipped and they are significantly whiter than the standard bulbs I really could tell the difference. My previous car had Xenon and it although the Vision Plus are better, they can't match them.
The blue vision are supposed to give you a HID effect, but arn't as bright as the Vision Plus so it might be an idea to use Plus for main and Blue for dipped if your after the HID look but want the performance.
I too got mine from powerbulbs that give a free W5W blue sidelight.

Ok sounds good, not having ever had to change a bulb can you confirm the 3 different lights in the fitting.

1) Main Beam used for night time driving - H7 ?
2) Full Beam used for extra light on dark unlit lanes,etc - H1?
3) Side light for general before dark driving? - W5W ?

I blame having a company car for the last 5 years where everything is done for you for not knowing the difference!!

Sidelights i've seen them as 501's but prob W5W will be the same thing and Foggy's if u wann change them are H3's

I've got some jap thing's Type R bulbs galaxy white there really bright with a slight bluey tint to it amazing for roung the back roads

in fact from memory i think a mate of mine had the Philips ones they were very similar to the Type R ones i have very bright

Get some uprated 80w low beam bulbs, (from powerbulbs), raise the headlight setting slightly and it is like day and night ( bad pun ), done that on both my leons and makes driving at night much easier and safer. If you want serious lighting get some 100W main beams serious lighting ahead.

True, but considering how bright xenon headlamps are on dipped beam for on coming drivers compared to normal bulbs, my 80 w bulb upgrade is an equivalence.

And not to mention the extra heat created in the HU and whether it can be extracted otherwise welcome to HU melt down my mate at school put 100w rally bulbs in his corsa....he went driving one night for coupla of hours and the plastic in the HU had gone soft and had warped

I think the issue with standard high power bulbs against is Xenons are self leveling and can then get away with the brighter output. If we run 80W dipped on standard you have more chance of blinding someone as our lights can't self level.

I considered more power output don't get me wrong I'd love 80W, but I don't want to risk someone crashing into me because of it. What would happen with your insurance if they investigate the crash and found you had high power bulbs installed?

i remember my first car had H4 bulbs - the best invention ever was the 55/100 bulb.

Legal on dipped and like having a 2nd sun on main!!!

Fair point, but if they are going to go to that extent to invalidate my claim, then they are not an insurance company I want to deal with. I doubt a reputable insurance company assessor would be looking to invalidate the claim. But you never know . I think the point made about heat build up is valid though,ran 80w in my previous cupra for 2 years with no ill effects.

You obviously don't use Privilage then They are as cheap as chips and all I would expect from a claim is a bag of them, might get a battered sasuage if I'm lucky.
I am changing next time round they are extreamly difficult to deal with, charged me for a phone based contract when I signed up on the net. They wouldn't refund the difference as I didn't notice for two weeks, w**kers.

I've Philips Diamond Vision.. It's superb ! Everyone asks me where did i get those xenons.. It's that brilliant.. I got them for nearly 45€..

I've just bought a set of Philip's blue visions, not fitted them yet though.

Previously had ice blue bulbs from autobulbs direct which didn't perform any better than the standard one's but did look pretty good for about 3 months before they started to fade! So I'd advise you to stay clear of them!
