hey guys what do you think of my latest projects.
ive been doing the centre console with screen for a while but ive just decided to finish it. its nearly fully primered at the mo so should be ready for spraying soon.
thoughts?
theres a screen that fits behind the big hole (obvious from pics)

ive just started tinting the rear and front light units to match the car. i think they look awesome what you think?

Looks smart m8, I'm wanting to change my vent holes to accept a small carbon fibre plate where i'll mount 3 guages.
This is all in my head at the moment and I havent thought it through properly...... need a price on the centre console first as i might do sommat similar to you. Anyone know the cost new from Seat ?

Also how did you remove it without breaking anything lol ?

console comes off with 2 screws behind the vents... pull the vents out and unscrew them. them theres 2 or 3 screws right at the bottom, youd need to be on your knees looking under the dash to see these and then theres the ones which hold theheater control unit in place which just again unscrew.

then its a case of prising out the switches and pulling the whole thing out, becareful with the switch surrounds cos theyre clipped on to the dash board but be gentle and itll just pop off.

to do the guages, i wouldnt carbon fibre it, id fibre glss it over so it looks smooth with the rest of the pannel, filler and paint and then just drill holes where you want the guages putting.

all i did for the screen was take an LCD to bits and glue the case into the dash surround n then fibre glass it in n build up with primer, second fibre glass project ive done and am very pleased with.

everyone to their own about the lights i agree. i havent tried them against the car yet so i might not even like them, in which case ebay it will be

i think the tinted lights will look mint mate they will defo go with ur car its just gonna be a bummer when it comes to mot time cause u sprayed over the reflectors

i had a mk2 1.4 ibiza and sprayed the console bits silver, looked really good imho, when selling it on it was one of the main focal points according to all that viewed it as well as the buyer.

when i foolishly decided to take my xbox apart to chip it i got carried away a bit

ended up going for a din pop out screen and moved the radio to drivers glove box mainly cos i use the centre vents and windows/ac etc and my trim is carbon looking and liked it that way - sorry im sad like that

good thing to add was that i found with some modifying a lhd lower centre console from a cupra 2 fits and gave me a perfect pc/dvd/xbox size slot and 2 guage holes (still to fit gauges)

all because i didnt want it in the boot and couldnt get it under the seat the whole thing is fitted in the dash area in lots of pieces of varying places.ideas-
need to add some more pics as i have found a neat trick with the elec mirror switch

il like the screen strip/blend idea - might consider it on next car

Did you take the internals out of the Xbox and put them into some smaller box to fit it in that center console?

Im baffled how you did this...

Oh yeah and how did you get your dials to light up blue?

internals were stripped and modified to fit wherever i had space basically

motherboard is under passenger floor in a custom box
power supply under passenger seat
dvd drive in console as you see (still not trimmed up)
hard drive is behind false ashtray

soundboard section is in dash centre via a digital modulator to stereo on drivers side
motherboard temp/fan controls are in passenger dash pocket
all the cable/connections/relays hidden under dash
controller connections run under console to rear seat

(not yet seen)
i stripped the front off the mirror switch so it now houses the infred reciever for tv/dvd remote control ill do pics later but with the top off it leaves 4 red led's to aim at

power button/controls has been split to 2 and fitted in window switch blanks and wired as per original led - red/green but seperate so i still have std diagnostics

those pics show it lit up in red originally but it is all now blue ye

speedo is lit with these led's - take speedo housing out - unclip white top section GENTLY and remove the red tint strip - replace the white bulbs with the led's (looks better in real life - crap pics in dark) the standard illumination supply is max 9v so i have a plan to make it slightly brighter still via 12v - ill post up when i do

you can also replace the lcd screen bulbs but as i have mainly red fittings with blue accent lights i left em orange to save it all going too blue

only down side is i havent tweaked the xbox's standard dew sensor as low as id like it so it wont boot up until the cars warmed up but anyway theres still 101 things to do anyway that im still working on

have added external connections for gamecube in rear console so kids plug that in on ch2 when they get bored

its a LHD euro spec Cupra 2 console as fitted standard abroad not a uk option - i just specced up the numbers i needed and ordered em - took approx a week to get in but does need a slight tweak and adjustment to fit though as its too long on one side due to the lean of it

as i use the dvd drive mainly to load the hard drive up (120gig) just run a test on a few formats

music - cd / dvd / mp3
video - dvd / mpeg / avi / divx (quicktime test later when ive figured it out)
games - ps2/xbox/gamecube/nes/snes (via emulators)

added a few interfaces this am and popped to mates house and stuck in a rental dvd and can rip from the disc straight to hdd from inside the car

after a wireless router and xbox network adapter so i can load car from inside house via pc remote connection

also runs usb but only tested a keyboard and mouse so far i dont think a scanner/printer is any use ? LOL

if desired theres a 4 piece cassette holder to slot in the top section - 6K1 864 117A (£35 odd though) and i didnt need it anyway

not got prices for all (cant find inv) but was about £25 iirc for the top 3 i used and only extras was a few screws and speed clips (std stuff)

i got a parts diagram if it helps? if you mail me ill pass it on
