I'm going to give it a rest today though, I have pretty much cut my hands and arms to strips in two days - so really need to let them heal a bit before getting filthy again

good work there mate, i take it you have used the 16v ecu and clocks?

are you having to splice into the stock (old) loom for things like windows and dash lights etc

yup - 16v clocks, ecu & engine loom - to plug into the fusebox (don't care which one) and operate all the other stuff from the OE loom

I think I had it at one point, just needed the immo to work (which it didn't) so I think I might end up with both ECU's

Might restrict the load space for mtbs slightly, but while you've got two looms in the car you might as well go twin-engined...

Good work there Mark, nice quick progress by the looks of it, Is it all finished now? Maybe an excues to get WRC to let us have a RR day there, would be pretty cool to see the vario on the rollers! Proper heinz 57 car there with the mk3 interior and now with the 16v lump!

Also worth noting was the subframes I used were the original ones - the rear is identical, just used the mounts from the engine.

The front I was all set to use the old subframe from the coupe, as it has cut outs etc for various parts - but I hit a snag that the vario's chassis leg mounts were about 1" narrower and 2" further forward than the coupe's (it's not a bent car...)

So I used the Vario's one - and it mounts just fine. (so same as 1.4 etc)

same problem i had with the last 20vt conversion

it's amazing the subtle differences between 6 months build.

even the power steering reservoir is in a different place (but not to cause a problem)

yep had the pas one aswell, also bulkheads on ours we're different which made fitting the clutch hydraulics interesting

I think roughly the Ibiza 2.0 16v is 1100kg, Cordoba coupe is 1150kg, and the Vario is about another +50kg again

Not to worry! I spent most of yesterday finishing jonah's GTRS install, and today we're doing gardening stuff - tomorrow's the wedding anni - so no car playing allowed (something about posh restaurants for dinner & oil under my nails!)

I just need a day of sitting in the foot well connecting up wires - replace a brake flexi we had to cut & it'll be driving about

sourced a new Bosal system for £95 locally, so that's a result

I think it's immo related - so I'll try plugging both ECU's in & see if that primes the fuel pump (currently that's when it stops)

Plug the 16v immobiliser bits into the 16v ECU then leave the key from the 16v next to the aeriel. Both ECU's will be expecting the word from the little immobiliser box I'm wondering if it might be different on the 16v? I'm guessing at the minute you have the vario immobiliser box plugged in?
