I'm quite worried reading the above posts, I bought a May 2011 FR last Wednesday, do the same problems apply to the 2011 model as described above?

People in Polo GTI forums with my2012 cars also suffer from this... So I think the only engine hangging on without many faults are the CAVG (Audi A1 1.4 TFSI)

I might be mistaken anyways..

So guys we know that Seat Ibiza and VW Polo runs a CAVE engine.
We also know that Audi A1 runs a CAVG engine, but as you can see in this post there's also a CTHG and a CTJA engine for Audi A1 1.4TFSI.

Any1 here knows what's different between them? Because if I need a new engine I wanna make sure it is the latest one!

P.S: I already sent an email to VW germany asking the exact same question. I'm waiting for their reply.

I believe the Audi is twincharged still. Just has revised parts and 5ps more in the map(or maybe the extra is a result of revised parts)

Yes it has been answered bu Techie the Audi one is also twincharged. The real question lays what has changed between those 3 Audi engines? Is Audi the only one trying a real fix and therefor producing different engines with revised parts? VW is still using the old CAVE engine in their Polos.

Techie we need your help here :p

Notice that the scraper ring is increased of 0.1mm

Will be the solution???

This was my message in a VW's Australian forum :D

I'm not sure about forged piston, but new piston rings are available from January...

I have a video to link from Youtube that shows a cracked Ibiza's piston, but I cannot link it because I'm a newbie on this forum... :(

I also have an interesting pic of a motor head replaced (new whole engine on a FR) after only 3.500Kms: completely encrousted...

BTW, also A1 TFSI has the exact same problems...

Maybe the CAVG engine had the same problems.
But now there is a CTHE and a CTJA engine also for Audi A1 1.4TFSI

One of them must have some different internals or there were no reason to bring out so many engines

I don't know, but for sure the A1 sold in 2011 have the same identical oil problems...

May be CTHE is just only Euro6 ready, nobody knows for now.
Of course we all hope that the problem will be solved and in the case where the engine need to be replaced a fixed one will be installed...

Sorry to hear about your problems. How on earth can a dealer say tehy wont fix it. what reason did they give you?[:@]:censored:
They must have a reason, or you must of asked for one?? WHy you would let them/think that you have no rights is beond my. No offence but your warranty covers you for this kinda thing. Good luck getting it sorted- have a read up on your consumer rights and how warranties work and explain this to the dealer in question. Ring another dealer and tell them the situation. Maybe they might be able to sort something out for you. Arrange collection of your car from the sh1t dealer in question?

I stand corrected. One of those must be with the uprated pistn rings. The other with forged pistns too. Would make sense why theres a rumour going around about seat putting completely new pistons in and calling it new rings only. Just speculating though. I might join an audi forum and do some snooping

I've sent emails to VW and Audi but no answer yet

Did you write to this address? [email protected]

They answered me quickly and even if my GTI doesn't have oil problems (for now), they opened a ticket and put me in contact with VW Italy in a couple of days (I asked them a free warranty extension on the engine due to the known oil consumption problems, they said NO :))...

Dear Mr. Sousa,

Thank you for your enquiry.

According to our information there is no newer version of the 1.4 TSI (CAVE) engine.

If you have further questions regarding technical issues we kindly ask you to get in touch with your Volkswagen retailer. They
will be pleased to be of assistance.

Yours sincerely,
