Please help - How do I remove Toledo wing mirror cover

Hi,
I have read many posts on here about removing wing mirror covers but
none seem specific to Toledo Mk2 teardrop shape (Toledo 2003 reg)

Please could someone tell me how to get the covers off so that I can respray
them. They have got scuffed (one on a pillar in the car park, the other on the
garage door frame). I guess I could just mask everything off and respray but
I could do a better job I could get the covers off.

Thanks
Best regards
Trevor

Thanks for your message. Have you removed them before ?

I think on the old style (square) mirrors they were easier to remove but these tear-drop style
ones seem so tight. I didn't want to risk damaging them by putting a screwdriver in the gap
or forcing them and snapping off one of the plastic clips.

Best regards

just give it a big yank!!! :D

Some of the guys at the cov meet changed covers on the tear drop style. They seemed to pop off just like the square ones!

Old thread I know, but does anyone have anything new to add ?

I returned to my car today and guess what, some kid person had hit my mirror and the cover had parted company with the car.. Nice of them, Eh..

So, short of buying a new cover and glass and getting the new cover painted (Cover £25 from the dealer and around the £50+vat mark to paint locally) I was thinking of a pair of Black ones off Ebay.. I have already ordered the new glass.

Would black mirrors look any good on a bright Red Toledo TDI ? The car has done 172k, so not wanting to much expense.

So, back to the original question, the broken side is easy, but how do I get the cover off the good side ?

Someone out there must be able to explain a little better than "a good yank" !!

Thanks guy's..
