PLS HELP! It won't unlock or start

Hi,

I bought an 02 Leon Cupra on Saturday. Drove it around without problems Sat & Sun, but when I went to start it tonight it just turned over really slowly - I mean really slowly and wasn't close to starting.

I then noticed the passenger door had not unlocked. I clicked the remote key a couple of times and the back passenger side door also stopped unlocking and locking. I tried both keys in both the driver side lock (there is no keyhole on the passenger side as you'll know) and in the ignition.

The battery is fine as the windows, air con etc work fine, it just turns over rediculously slowly and won't unlock on the passenger side, even when using the button on the driver's door.

Please help - my girlfriend is going crazy as she needs the car in the morning and the dealer is two hours away (and shut).

I am so disappointed - the car runs so well and I was so pleased to have my first Cupra on Sunday night. I am absolutely gutted.

Saybadger.

what if you connect it to some jump leads?

might be enough juice to operate ancilaries, but not enough for the starter

Yes, I thought of that too but haven't tried as have no other car tonight ot run it off. Prob worth a try. Do you think this would also account for the lack of action on the passenger lock though? I wouldn't hink that would take much juice.

Does it work if you pull the handle from inside? If I remember correctly you had to pull it twice to open it as the first time would only unlock the door.

When you pull the handle from the inside on the front door it pushes the button up but when released it drops back down again.

Sounds like a duff battery.

If the battery is fully charged, then I'd suspect the earth straps. The battery is earthed to the bodyshell, try this one first.

The starter motor is earthed to the engine block and between engine and body there is at least one heavy-duty earth connection, usually a braided metallic strap. If this is damaged or working loose it will affect how much power the starter can get.

or could be at worst a part siezed or sticky starter only way to check too is to have it off a see if it turns freely as it could be cooking itself!

yeah, battery was knackered in the end. Cheers for the support though. You know how it is.

What about this one then..... the wing mirrors switch back for parking - mine have stopped working. I don't actually care that much but it's annoying to have something that doesn't work. Any ideas or are they just busted? The actual mirror adjustment still works - no worries.
