HEY,

Im getting only 300 miles to a full tank on a new 1.6 TDI CR!! Its costing me a bloody fortune!!

Im driving easy only doing motorway driving sitting at 60 - 65 mph!!

Took it in and they said they cant see anything wrong!! They prob think im driving carelessly but im not!!

Im so angry...have i got a dud engine? Shud i just sell it to get rid of it...im so fed up!!

Seat customer care said official mpg arent necessary accurate. but my question is 30 mpg on a diesel acceptable..............i give up

I'm doing 30mpg with my Bocanegra. That's motorway and welsh road blasting too. 34mpg normal day to day driving. I'd be asking questions too if I were you. But it depends on which gear your in, I'd have thought you'd be driving in top gear and be able to get a lot more than that m8.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your car. I am driving a 1.9 tdi Ibiza Courtesy car at the moment. On the Isle of Wight (not a lot better than urban driving), and its averaging 56mph

Something has to be wrong with your car

Mine is the 1.9TDi and I average around 56-60 mpg if i'm driving it easily. If i'm booting it I get around 45mpg.

To be honest I wouldn't be at all happy with your low readings, especially on such a new motor and the VW pedigree it has.

Don't leave it as that from your dealer. If your unhappy then I'd keep on them.

Let us know how you get on Bestey.

Cheers

To be honest my 1.6tdi is nowhere near as good on fuel as my polo 1.4tdi. But mine is getting around 380 - 400 miles per tank i think. So 300 is rubbish fella! Iam hoping it gets better when it losens up. Mind you i tend to boot it most places as i like the power and torque it has :)

Hi, 300 miles to a tank! -thats terrible. I am getting close to that with my 1.6 petrol and with mostly town driving.

Something wrong somewhere!:(

I agree, something is wrong.:wtf: I get 57-62 mpg(at the same motorway speeds as Betsey) out of my 1.9 TDI Sport.:-o

Has the dealer looked at your ECU yet?

and I bet you done less than 1000 miles in it ? New engine needs to be run in and used!!!!! Get a good 10k on it and your see better mpg. Im seeing 58mpg at the mo and I done 5k!

yeah actually i only got about 340 miles on this tank so thats prob right if your only doing town driving, still think its rubbish it is only doing that amount of miles ran in or not. its nowhere near the stated mpg! its not even close! nor is mine :(

As said previously, think you need to give a little more time to run in. My 1.6tdi had done about 1000 miles, and I used it on a long run last weekend, put £40 diesel in and got about 450 miles out of it driving on motorways, a roads and country lanes, so not too bad. My last car was a mk4 and drank petrol when new, but after about 8000 miles was really good, easily got 45mpg ish, such a shame that the car itself was the worst piece of **** i've ever wasted money on. Nothing beats handing a **** car back to the dealer who sold it to you.

30 mpg??

my last diesel was getting 60 mpg from new, even though it was a 1.4 hdi

where is all the diesel going?

they said theres no leaks etc

surely if it using this much fuel it has to be doing damage to the car

and i am driving it very easy!

such a disapointment, has completely put me off the car

p.s. ive done just over 1000 miles in it

i think this is rubbish,i was under the impression that all new cars nowadays have there engines run in at the factory, yes i agree with older car engines you did have to keep them under so-many thousand revs for the first few k's but i think 30mpg definatly means there is something wrong

(i dont want to start an argument here lol, just giving my two cents)

Okay, I feel comfortable enough to throw in my views now that I've had my car for a few days.
It's a (new) Ibiza 1.6 CRTDi Sport.

I'm averaging roughly 44.5mpg, with a mix of motorway (80ish MPH) and in town driving, and I'm quite an aggressive driver, I don't do the whole "eco-driving" malarky.

My dealer (who is just frikkin' awsome) put 100 miles worth of diesel in the car, according to the trip computer, I've done almost 90 miles and still have 20 miles worth of diesel left. So something might be up?

Yeah, probably scrape 45 - 50 mpg most days on way to work and thats on a roads. You would think that if the car only puts out 30mpg then it can't be burning the fuel properly which would result in the dpf filling pretty quick.
