just fitted my porsche brakes there off the back of a boxster. everything fits fine it just braking is poor, my question is whats wrong?

do they just need wearing in could the calipers be siezed or could it be bleeding? the pedal feels quite hard but doesnt stop well.

there on the front, and the pedal is hard pretty much from the top of pedal, brembo ibiza disks and gsf pads. surely the pads wouldnt be the issue as even cheap pads should stop a car

What is the total slave cylinder area of the old calipers versus the new calipers? A mismatch can give the symptoms you mentioned. You can change the pedal fulcrum point to compensate a little by giving more leverage, however I've not looked in depth at the seat setup to see if it was possible (only on my kit car).

i remember a while back when my mate changed my old disks and pads to brand new ones, and initially they were shockingly bad, until the pads wore in and the discs got abit of usage in them

I guess it depends what you mean by braking is poor. They should stop the car with no trouble at all and within a mile of gentle on off breaking (don't let them heat up too much else they'll glaze) will be bedded in enough to see a difference. If you use them too much too fast you'll glaze the pads and you may as well chuck the pads at that stage.

How much bigger were the porsche discs out of interest? Did the callipers bolt straight on or have you modified stuff?

Possibly due to different master cylinder in the porsche, the ibiza one may not be able to work the slave cylinder correctly as it's not designed for the posche one? Just a guess.

ive used the cupra r brembo disks (had 2mm shaved off each side) normal pads for the calipers and used cupra r mounts (think ive had 3 or 4 mm off the face that bolts to the car, i think it is in a post elsewhere the exact sizes) just dropped the girlfriend off at work and they feel a little better going to garage now to take bleeder back so see what he says. will let you know.

Brakes look sick. new wheels look good too ;)

look on tyrestretch.com/index for stretched tyres

There 7j front and rear et 52 i think. with 20mm spacers up front and 40mm rear! Im lovin the look of the brakes but as i work away all week i only get to drive it 2 days so bedding them in will take ages! Iv had a look on that site before some serious stretch on some!
