Got given an open cone filter today. it was originally for a beetle 2.0l 8v. i asked the guy who gave it me what size opening on it, and he said it was a 70/72ish..so i though hey lets try it

in my bay

was just curious..although it sounds AMAZING, would any problems arise from an open cone that wasnt made for mine? it fits perfectly to the MAF and the breather pipe fits well too. and as for oil, there didnt seem like there was any on the filter so i cant imagine it drinks oil (to damage the maf)

i think maybe im just being paranoid..will post some clips of it asap as it sounds immense!:D

I changed mine just over a week ago for a standard universal mushroom filter that had an 80mm opening, just used one of the supplied reducing rings to fit it to the MAF. Works and sounds a treat. Nice loud induction and DV noise. Just changed my standard bosch DV to Forge 007p.

its not a lot louder but you can notice a little difference. I think my bosch was leaking slightly so it was best to replace it anyway. Also, i won't be using my engine cover so it looks vastly better than the black piece of plastic. Going to try running with the 007 fitted backwards as its supposed to change the noise.

Filter looks like a Powertec from the pic.......correct? I have a Powertec on my LCR and previously had a BMC CDA and then smoothed airbox with Green Cotton Filter and found the Powertec to be the best.

Did some logs with my BMC CDA and then Powertec this weekend and Powertec was flowing a lot more air and only showing a 1 degree hike in inlet temp. Haven't got the logs to hand but think it was 196g/s for BMC and 204g/s for the Powertec.
