Been looking at one for sale and i noticed there are quite a few differences between the pre and post facelift models. Just wondered if these changes were correct or if theres something been hidden? Things are:

1. No side skirts
2. No electric mirrors
3. Black dials not white
4. Was the 2.0l 8v engine available in the ibiza 1994?

Anything thing else i should be aware of?

Thanks in advance!

yes you are correct, my 95 GTi 8v had

no skirts, no elec mirrors, black dials, no leather and had a funky miami vice pattern on the seats.

all these parts can be bought from later cars and fitted including the late spec bumpers

Pre-facelift was often a 2E 2L 8v or 1.8 16v. Should have same skirts.

I've got a very early (reg Feb 1994) 2E 8v 2l GTi. It was originally a garage demonstrator, so it may have had some optional extras (e.g. the electric mirrors & side rubbing strips?)

Spec on my car was:
Power steering
Electric Windows
Electric colour coded mirrors
Cloth interior (mid grey with multicolour stripes & GTi stitched into fron seats)with split fold rear seat & rear head restraints
Height adjustable driver & passenger seats.
Adjustable steering column
Height adjustable front seatbelts
Black dials with orange numerals.
Front fogs
Wing aerial
Tilt/slide sunroof
14inch 3 spoke alloys
Colour coded bumpers with red stripe
Clear front indicators

It did not have:
Side skirts
Air con
Half leather
Leather steering wheel/gear lever
Opening rear windows
Remote locking or alarm
High level brake light
Driver or passenger airbag
ABS

There was a GTe available for the 1994 model year - but I've never seen one. I think it added aircon and a drivers airbag to the GTi spec - but they are very, very rare (it was about an extra £1500 from memory!)

Hope that helps.

there seems to be many variations of spec and trim for all the different cars. Suppose it depends on what was avalible at the factory that week and if the dealer changed anything also if the first owner played with the options list.
most of the parts are interchangeable on all the mk2's so if you don't like anything (trim wise) you can change it. Mine still brings a smile to my face and i'm normally happy with it

Cheers for the input guys, really appreciate it! Theres a few things about it that i am concerned about, its done 80k (which i know isnt a lot for a 12 year old car) but its got no service history or books with it. Its HPI clear and its a private sale which has been bought to sell on.

I'll see how little I can get it for i guess, its a no ABS model also which is a concern as my last GTi made a lot of use of that.

Cheers

just the usual checks for an ibiza really

rust on the rear arches and sills below the door
check the change from 1st to second on the gearbox (as mine needed replacing just before xmas)
check that both the elec windows go up and down properly

and do the usual buying checks.

good luck
