Well, wasn't that a complete biatch of a job!

My hands are so sore today and I've got cuts and grazes all over them. All part of the fun I suppose.

Got to say Harvey, it really is a nice bit of kit and a real shame about the fitment issues. I think we actually did very well considering we're complete novices at this sort of thing.

Glad PA are going to sort it out. Lets hope it's done quickly so you can get your car back.

How's public transport this morning? lol

lol cheers mate

I think if it was definitely a kit that fitted i.e. Forge, then this would have been literally a bumper off and on job

just a shame that we found out too late that it was due to an incorrect kit that the whole thing did not work!

still we persevered well from what we had!:) cheers anyhow mate

Next do you fancy giving me a hand fitting that Garret turbo.....the word begining with F and ending K followed by off i can hear you shouting:p

public transport......as grim as always:ban:

well smooth and i got the turbo pipe on ok was tricky but done it your just crap and car work lol

no it would have never of gone on in a million years, the diamater of the hose off the turbo was smaller than the diamater of the alloy pipe, we did get it on, but only slightly, and it would have never of stayed on, the pressure would have blown it straight off

parts of the kit were just not right, especially the outlet pipe where the smic sensor was meant to screw into

anyway, PA are sorting it, and they can stick the whole bumper on as well

Nah, there's no way that pipe was going to connect up. It was like trying to thread thick rope through the eye of a needle. It just wasn't meant to take that diameter of pipe.

I don't know how on earth you managed it.

£100 quid says it is ask smooth and roly!!

maybe on yours but not on mine, the pipe did go on eventually but simply not enough of the pipe could actually go on in order for it to stay on

anyway, PA are sorting out the whole thing now:)

Is the new charge pipe 60mm Harvey? You'd struggle to fit the standard 54mm elbow onto it.........

I have to say this, I don't think there is any way a pre-facelift bumper will go over the bottom of that FMIC. I think they'd have to cut most of the bottom of the bumper away.

i think so yes from memory, did not measure it, but certianly the charge pipe was bigger in diameter than the standard turbo hose

have you ever tried to stretch silicon piping like that after 9 hours of taking the car apart, lol!!

no, when we put the bumper back on, the bottom of the bumper was seriously fowling the FMIC, and the whole plastic mid section will have to be cut away and around the FMIC so it will fit, its a big barsteward of an intercooler, and its not best designed for the pre face lift versions....which we found out to our cost yesterday

as seen below (thanks Smiff)

well the car was trailored up this morning, and arrived about 10am. They have started work on the car already, in which i have received an email from Wayne stating this and what he is going to do

he has confirmed that the hose off the turbo is 57mm and the charge pipe is 60mm.....you do the maths? its only 3mm, but enough for the hose not to stretch onto the charge pipe....oh boy, believe me, we DID try!

fantastic service from PA, very pro active and Wayne is a top guy and very helpful

so the car will be back with me soon:)

Glad to hear it's on it's way to being fixed mate.
Sounds like PA are doing their best to get it sorted.

Did they give you any idea on how long it'll take?

they stated the car should be done by tomorrow, so possibly I might be able to pick up the car tomorrow evening...somehow

they are also pressure testing the inlet pipe that we had to redrill to get the smic sensor to fit into....as you well know, it was fairly round, but then trying to drill a perfectly round hole with a snapped drill piece is not exactly easy:lol:

just figuring out train times to get up to PA for tomorrow evening, or perhaps thurs/fri evening

well so far PA have shown nothing but excellent customer service so far, very very happy with them, and have been more than helpful

I will see what shiny bits they have for sale in the workshop when i pick up the car fri evening

well I am picking up the car Fri night, and they have not cut any of the bumper at all....yep thats right, a pre face lift bumper and it's not been cut at all[B)]

they have modified the brackets a little so the cooler sits further back:D

I am well chuffed that no cutting has taken place:funk:

cant wait to test out the new performance of it as well:drool:

well I now have the car back

WOW!!

Wayne at PA is a top guy, really nice to chat too, and we loved his IHI lotus exige :D

Well the FMIC is barely visible....kind of;)

it does not sit below my bumper, and the bumper was not cut, it sits perfectly and unless you have an eye for detail, it looks very stock. The black samcos help as well with keeping the stealth type look

performance - I think it feels slightly more laggy (perhaps due to the pressure drop on the standard map).....but when it does come on full boost it just pulls and pulls all the way to the red line, and punching it from 2nd - 3rd you really notice the difference and it rockets along

in comparison, my mate has a Ibiza, k03s tuned which is very rapid. Before on the motorway his pulled away from mine considerably.....but now with the FMIC on, the performance gap is noticeable and now its a little more close, which is quite interesting as a comparison for each modification I do and then comparing it to his to see how close I am (although as discussed we are not sure his is that healthy right now...:()

the exhaust note has changed I think, sounds a bit more racey (sorry only way to describe it:rolleyes:)

The service and help from PA has been exceptional, and a massive thanks for them helping me to get to this stage

regarding the turbo hose that would not go onto the charge pipe, Wayne fabricated a slightly smaller metal extension onto the end of the charge pipe so it would fit onto the turbo hose

Wayne has now noted down all the measurements and has developed PA FMIC kits now for the pre face lift leons, so if anyone is interested let me know or give Wayne a call. PA I know are not a site sponsor yet, but talkin to him, this might now be in the pipeline......if so, Forge have got some definite competition:D

I will get some pics up later
