Hey all,

Well this phase of my Leon seems to have come to a close after a fair bit of effort.

I took the car along to my local garage and they sorted out the remaining bugs.

Horrible brake squeal was due to the pads on one wheel being fitted in the wrong place and no copper grease at all [:@]

The knocking noise NSF was due to lose bolts on the gear box [:@]

Yes the wrong oil was in [:@]

Now replaced with 5W30 long life at £46! :funk:

The car now runs really nice and feels great!

I have one bug left that being the minus temp button that seems to be stuck in, I've posted a thread about that.

Now all I need to do is get the car fully detailed and I'll be off an running.

Would there be any benefit from using super unleaded? my petrol cap says 95 as explained.

Anyway, here is me (hello) and the car tonight, pic by my sister.

Thanks for all your help with this phase..

Hi and thanks for the replies! I have not been getting any 'new reply' emails so had assumed there had been no more activity here.
Anyway, mine is a petrol as well! there was another Leon at the garage yesterday and it to had the three holes but nothing in it, so maybe it is as you say model specific?

Anyway, I am pleased to report that I have my car back now and all the work has been done!
New discs all round, new pads as well, even got a new cam belt fitted!
They found that a past mechanic had forced a new front wheel bearing on damaging the abs sensor disc which was probably causing the error.
Its been replaced with new hub, wheel bearing and disc.
Oil leaks have been fixed as well.
and I have a new MOT cert, so all in all a fair result I think.
It cost the sellers a fair few £ as well.

But, I guess mistakes can happen and they have put everything right.

So now I can get to know my new car a bit and enjoy the drive.

One question, I'd like to get a bulb kit to carry with me, Halfords don't seem to carry them anymore, anyone know where I can get one?
Also, would be interested in LED side lights if they are legal.

Thanks all

Mike

as said in later posts you can actually buy a seat kit shaped like the front grill S badge

as for leds ive fitted to interior too , not much bother to change either

as for intermittent abs /traction fault

i have recently replaced my sensor with a genuine one £50 odd trade :(

and is still kicking in , think its the magnets that may be loosing contact making it happen so have a look and clean if needs be
as for dangerous , not really , but i did struggle to stop on sunday just gone

usually when that happens the wheels lock as no abs is working , but on sunday just didnt wanna stop

glad its all coming together for you now :D

Thanks! internal LED's? I'd like to see them working if you have time?

Old thread but Vauxhall and masterfit gang are worth the watching, many moons ago I had a Cavalier GSI, it was in excellent condition and was well maintained with no faults.

Basically put it in for some winter check thing they were doing, forget what it entailed but it was cheap.

Anyway they ask do you want a full check for free...said no but they kept pushing it and did it anyway.

When I seen the report it was a shock, I needed discs and pads all round, a clutch and god knows what else..

The brakes were quite new and clutch was fine, the report said clutch was slipping badly...

Funny it never slipped with me prior to going in and it never slipped in the next 10k miles...then it never slipped with my mate who bought it and ran it for long enough!
