Mr Technician lend me your ear... have a listen to the video on my post concerning the noise my sons Ibiza is making, are you able to shed any light on it? https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/help-what-is-this-noise.444392/

Is there anymore information you can give me on the behaviour of the car does it run lumpy or misfire? The noise sounds very bottom end, for you sake I hope that is not the case but maybe check crankshaft end float or maybe lower the sump and check the bottom end of the engine for wear or play. The only other thing I can suggest is if you get a large metal rod or something metal you can put your ear to then you can use this to locate the area of the engine it’s coming from.

no doesn't run lumpy or misfire, only does it on cold start i.e. in the morning or when it has been stood all day when son is at work. By the time he gets to the end of the road it has stopped and car runs as it should. Had a major service yesterday, oil change etc but that video from this morning and sounds terrible. I'm hoping it's nothing as serious as what you think as that seems terminal on a 14 plate car, serviced from new etc. It has the benefit of seat used car warranty until july. will be calling the dealer in the morning

Yes your best bet is to contact the dealer and show them this video then they can’t refuse to investigate it. Unfortunately trying to diagnose a noise over the internet is pretty hard so I apologise I couldn’t be more help with this one but would be very interested to hear back from you once it’s been sorted. The only other thing that i have seen to cause that type of noise for a short time is a oil strainer in the sump being blocked causing the engine to run with no oil for a short period of time until some oil manages to push through.

don't apologise at least you tried. They had a video from when it started making the noise and I was told it was nothing to worry about, they said the 1.4 engine is very good and no known issues & is ok to drive. Someone else has suggested the oil strainer. I will keep you updated

Wow I’m sorry to hear you were turned away like that and yes the CGGB engines do tend to be pretty bullet proof but that noise is not normal and is a cause for concern but yes I would love to be kept in the loop and by all means drop me a message if you have a questions through the repair process I understand customers don’t always get enough information about what’s going on :)
