Question about driver seat position

Hi folks,

I am driving a Leon FR 2016 for a couple of months already, but I am still struggling to find a good seat position. My previous rides were Subaru Outback and Volvo XC70. I know, both are bigger and different class, but I am also driving from time to time my wife's Leon MK2. So in neither of these I have experienced the problem that I have with the FR (yes, Leon MK2 is less comfortable and with less adjustments, but still better than the FR).
I am 1.85 tall and the problem is how much space I have for my legs. If I position the seat front-back as I am used to with previous cars, the upper part of the backrest goes behind the B pillar. This means that I am sitting next to the pillar, the seatbelt in its upper part is not touching my shoulder and on top of that I am struggling to reach the navigation buttons or pull the wheel closer enough.
All this seems quite strange as I am not that tall on one hand, on the other, if I was, why my upper body position becomes so far, while leg room too short?
Anyone experiencing similar issues?
What configuration should be better - lower the seat as much as possible, or opposite - raise it max to hopefully compensate the distance issue that I have?

I have a similar problem due to long legs and short arms (not much to look like a freak, but enough to be uncomfortable in most cars) even if I'm not that tall, just 1.80m.

My suggestion is to raise the seat a bit more, just be careful to have about the size of your fist of free space above your head before touching the ceiling.
Extend the wheel as far as it goes, and lower it a bit.

And the worst but most important part: learn to live with a backrest close to 90° as it will make the most difference in wetter you can safely reach your steering wheel or just grace it with your fingertips.

I have a similar issue except in reverse - short legs and long body! If I have the seat back reclined enough to have any headroom then I'm next to the pillar and have the seatbelt across my chest as you also do.

I choose to have the seat further back and an upright back but slouch in the seat. Not particularly good for me but allows me to reach everything. The seat position is so high in the mk3. I've looked into options to lower the seat height but without major modifications (and money) there is nothing that can be done.

I really like the seating position in my FR. I am 1.88m and have my seat in the middle for height compared to rock bottom in my old octavia. I had a more relaxed position, almost in the back seat whereas now it is closer but better for driving. Just sit out there and have a play, there is a lot of movement so fingers crossed you can find a decent position

Thanks guys.
I am experimenting with different positions.
Seems that my main issues if I am too close are first that when I move my foot to press the brake, my knee hits the steering column. I have read that this is not a good idea as in a crash, if your feet are so close to the column/dashboard, injuries will be huge. And the second issue with such position is on long journeys. I am starting to feel pain in different areas - ankles, knees, etc.

I think I found a good position.
Somewhere up from the middle in height and to the back as far as possible with the rear facing child seat behind me.
