R plate Ibiza GTi. It's the 8v version - Hints & tips please?

just remember the weight after the rust eats away the ibiza sills and arches! much lighter now

i thought the rust causes an oxide which would make it heavier (at the time) but when it erodes it gets lighter lol

I has to be the mk2 ibiza gti with air con that parkers means.

Ive never been a fan of parkers guide !

What if the golf they got the figures from had air con though? In theory a golf without air con will still be 10kg lighter than an ibiza without air con!

what if the numbers were all wrong ?

mine's been scale weighted with me in it with half a tank of fuel @ 2550lbs (2.0 16vgti with ac+roof)

2550lb = 1133kgs

car is supposed to be 1100kg
me sat in it at 88kg (14 stone)
1/2 a 45l tank fuel (Petrol weight 1Litre = 0.73722kg) = 45l/2 = 22.5x0.73722 = 16.58kg

total should be = 1205 kg approx but it's 72kg lighter than specs suggest

would suggest it could possibly be 1028kg instead

The Haynes manual says that the Ibizas kerb weight ranges from 900-1100kg which would tie in with what Parkers say! Kerb weight being with all necessary fluids to work and a full tank of fuel. But thats still different to your figures maybe your calculations for the weight of petrol are wrong or your lying about how much you weigh lol
Who cares anyway the Ibiza looks better than the Golf and im sure theres alot more factors that make it better aswel!

well i have lost half a stone and i googled the weight of petrol

the spanish temprement makes up for it though

I have a seat Ibiza 2001 and my problem is that the battery went flat and i managed to get someone to jump start the car when I got home and went to lock the car I turned the key and nothing happened so I now have to climb through the back just to lock the door


any ideas what the problem is?
