Rattley Rear

I had really bad rattles from the rear the day I picked up my car, to start with it was the trim around the rear window. Warranty sorted to that, then once the acr had covered about 40k anothe rmore anoying noise...ended up being the boot lock mechanism..again warranty sorted it.....if a noise anoys you.,..just take it down to the dealers and get them to go out with you....they arnt that bad really!

Just found this thread, had this rattle for a year now, and its so bad I was on my list of reasons for "cons" for the Leon. Ted Johnson where supposed to look at it my last service, but they did nothing to fix it. I will book it back in with them to fix this once and for all :).

I thought it was my parcel shelf until recently I didnt have the shelf in and it was just louder. I am going to empty the boot tomorrow to confirm its nothing in the boot, the off to Ted Johnsons :)

It is very easy to fix. Take the boot trim off, slaken the nuts on the boot catch, move the catch as far up as it will go and tighten the nuts again. Also put a small wind of insulation tape around the striker.

Rattle when your going over the painted seed bump lines could be...

I had this and found that it was the 6 screws that held the boot lock in place where loose. Noticed it the other week when I open the boot the black plastic surround moved.

Cheers guys, will have a quick look - if it saves me the 60 mile round trip to Barnsley

After having all the trim off in mine and still being able to hear the wrattle I finally found the problem and it was very easy to fix. The rubber bungs on the tail gate which dampen the closing action can be adjusted, these just needed screwing out a couple of turns and the rattle has dissapeared. Deffinatly worth checking for anyone with a rattle :D

just started doing it in mine aswell so will have to start with the rubber bungs and work towards taking the panel off to see which one will fix mine. Cheers all

car went to Ted Johnsons for a few things including the rattle, they fixed it there and then (dont know what it was), but they also replaced two rear shockers also!!!

i can't believe i didn't come across this post earlier, thanks guys! when i get some time i'll give it a go. That may be my major rattle gone but on different days i seem to have other rattles else where lol
