Re-locating front numberplate

Hi Guys, im struggling for ideas here. Trying to find pics if possible of a MK4 where the numberplate has been re-located to a different part of the bumper and the way its been done. I took the numberplate off mine the weekend just to see what it looks like and it makes the front end look so much better IMO.

Has anybody done this or does anyone have any ideas?

where would you consider moving it too?

seen a few people take it off and display it on the inside of their windscreen, but that illegal! are you thinking of moving it to one side?

Yeah i have seen that too, but i want it to be legal, the police round by me are w****** when it comes to things like that.

Yeah just to one side, was thinking on the right hand side above the front fog, a bit like a alfa 156 if you get what i mean lol.

Dunno how i would fix it there though, dont really wanna screw into the bumper??

i wouldn't drill any holes, could use sticky form pads, thats what i use for my steel pressed plate, but might look a bit odd off to one side?

maybe try a photoshop?

Yeah abit like that :D

Im sure one of me mates has photoshop, i might get him to play around with an image.

Yeah the sticky pad idea is a good one. I will try that.

Might just whip the plate off and try it to see what it looks like in the flesh. Then get me some news plates from dubmeister cuz they got road legal pressed ones on there now and stick it on.

Cheers

If it's a pre-facelift, I think you'll have issues with the height of the plate. I'm sure you can chop down the width (as per the photochop below), but the height just doesn't fit on the bumper:

Cheers for that mate, looking at it now it looks a bit odd.

Mine is a cupra, 05 plate, the distance from the underside of the headlight to the grill 9basically the area where the plate would go) is larger and straighter than the pic shown above.

Again i really aoint sure whether i like it there though now you have shown me that pic lol

iirc the sticker type of plates are now illegal to put on your car. At one point they were legal but I couldn't find anyone who made BS compliant plates.

Chopping the sides of the plates is illegal is it not?

I have pressed metal plates and used sticky pads to hold them on but am not happy on on the pads on the front and one on the rear started peeling of when I cleaned the car! The plates will no way stay on the curved bumper with sticky pads IMO.

aimez...i have same issue!...so got number plate surrounds..they help to stop them coming away from the sticky pad..

the surrounds didn't fir on the cupra rear bumper space, gonna have to use some heavy duty velcro I think have lots of it that I need to use.

Ah but if you get nice intercooler you will want to show it off! I know what you mean though when I took my plates off I thought about it but then gave up and couldn't think of anywhere to put it. Alot of people tape the front plate to their passenger sun visor. I think this is legal still ins't it? I think it has got to do with it needing to be lit up at night thou?

Hasnt the Cupra bumper got a square cut out behind the plate? Might look a bit odd?
