quick question guys - a friend of mine is getting his cupra r re-mapped. The (mobile) company say that all they need to do is plug in, and an hour later, no new bits, his 225 will go to 265break with 380 torque (which is more than an M3!). £350. Even improves the fuel economy.

Realise some of you guys will have had this done already, and subsequently had cars retested on rollers, how effective is it?

There is plenty of evidence of 265bhp/280lbft from 1.8T 210/225 remaps, so yes you are right in your statement:)

A remap will push the car from 225bhp upto 260-265bhp along with 380NM no problems! (Generic maps 255-260bhp 'custom' maps 260-265bhp)

Guys...........HE DID NOT SAY LBFT, SO DONT JUMP ON HIS BACK!!! A lot of rolling roads and tuning companies quote NM instead of lbft.

The M3 comment, yermother is correct the 1.8t will push PEAK higher lbft than the M3, but M3 will hold and sustain its torque for much longer. The 280-300lbft from the 1.8t doesn't really last long at all.
Remapped LCR should be able to keep fairly close to 1 upto about 130:) They are pretty good for what they are i suppose, not a lot keeps up :)

Not sure on the fuel economy statement though, think thats a lot of crap tbh! I cant seem to conquer 300+miles now :(
