Rear Bearings?

Think mine are on there way out and would like to get a second opinion.

Anybody coming to the Coventry meet at the end of the month who can take a look (ie sit in the back and listen).

Obviously you would need to know what your listening for so I'm not just looking for a co-pilot

I think wheel bearing are like a light growling noise.. best advice is to jack the rear wheels off he ground with the handbrake off and spin the wheel with ur hand fast and put ur ear to the centre of the hub.. if its quiet it fine, but if noisey, wheel bearing!! dont get confused if ur rear dics are rubbing as they can make some noise!! gd luck

P.S. dont let the car fall of the jack if u have the rear in the air!! chock the front wheels so it dont roll forwards!!!

Just that back end has been sounding funny recently and last time I had that sort of a noise it was wheel bearings, so I put 2 and 2 together.

The mrs cupra sometimes has strange noises coming from the rear of the car when she goes around corners and roundabouts..... do you think that could be a wheel bearing?

she hasnt done it recently................... but ill never forget the day she curbed them at the coventry jct 2 of the m6 tesco's just as you go in. i was like have you just done

Back on subject, dont know if it's bearings just want it sorted.

a worn wheel bearing will give of a drowning noise , quite distinctive as opposed to other typical road noises!

i'm not an expert, but i'll be at the meet at the end of the month if you want me to ride shotgun?

in the mean time, jack the rear end up as said and see if there is any "play" in the wheel. grab it on opposite sides and try to twist it against the axle.
if there is any play, get it changed asap!
you don't want the wheel bearing collapsing mid corner!
not sure you will hear the worn wheel bearing whilst its jacked up as there is no pressure on the bearings, i may be wrong though, as i said i'm no expert!
