Hi all new member here so thought i'd say hi first..

Anyways got a seat ibiza mk2 r-reg.. its a 1900 tdi salsa.. Just found out my rear brake lights arnt working!.. the strange thing is the rear brake light in the window near the spoiler is..

Yes and before you ask lol i have checked the bulbs and even changed them to be safe.. still no joy..

I've also checked the little switch thingys on the foot peddal.. Theres two there.. the one (in white lower) i gather does the top spoiler brake light and the one above that on the peddal does the main left and right brake lights...

Ive took the switch out top one on the peddal and swapped it with one i got from the scrappy ive also put a wire between the two connections just to make sure and still no joy well no lights!

It needs doing for the mot so can anyone help..

Many thanks

they all work of the same brake light switch the bottom one they should all be on the same fuse what i would do is check you have feed to the bulb holder and check your earth at the bulb holder if not double check you bulbs

Hi mike,

ive checked the bulbs.. lol im not that bad .. ive bought new ones so defo not the bulbs.. i thought the foot peddal switch is a double switch for both the spoiler brake light and the left and right rear brake..

Do you know what the other one is for.. I think it might be a sensor for the ecu to let it know the car brakes are on..

Anyways spoke to a tech guy at a seat garage and he send try using a wire to put across the terminals to bypass the switch tried and no luck even did the same for the top switch no luck...

The only thing i can think of is that the pipe suppling the rear window washer came off which is near the lights terminal (board).. no where in the car was wet but it might have sprayed water onto the light bulb circuit board but all other lights are working fine and circuit board looks fine.. But dont want to go splashing money on parts here and there just in case..

Still not fixed anyway! so still need some ideas.. ANYONE???

Have you checked to make sure your deffinatly getting a feed to the circuit bored like Mike said?

i had the same trouble with water from washer jets. good clean and dry sorted it, and it only affects the one side, not both

Both sides are not working.. had the circuit board tested only one thought and that was fine.. but cant be an earth fault as all other lights indicators tail light etc work..

really stuck and the mot 10 days is running out..

One other thing the fuse for the central locking/clock/cigerate lighter keeps blowing 10amp little type not sure if thats got anything to do with it..

help! :)
