Another tale of reversing camera woe here

My 2021 Leon ST has been with the dealership today, who have advised that they can tell that the camera and module that have fallen out must have been non-genuine (based on some lacking PR code stickers?? - will grill them further on that tomorrow).

I bought the car in Dec 25 from a non-Seat dealer with a 6 month Spoticar warranty. Seat say that because they have to inform Spoticar that the failure seems to have been a non-genuine part, they don't expect it to be covered by the Spoticar warranty.

A new camera and fitting would be ~£750, but possibly more if they have to try to diagnose some errant wiring as a result of use of non-genuine parts.

I obviously can't speak to what happened before my ownership but based on the sorts of issues in this thread, I can quite believe that the previous didn't want to pay out that money / wait that long for a dealer fix, if out of warranty.

Questions for the great hive mind:
  1. I would genuinely not be bothered about 'deleting' the camera entirely, if that would get rid of the 'reversing camera error' on the dashboard. I hate using reversing cameras anyway. Is it possible for the camera (or at least the error) to be coded out?
  2. I wish I was close enough to @East Yorkshire Retrofits that they could sort it, but I'm way down in the South West (8 hour round trip!). Is there a version of this fix that can be done remotely (let's assume that all the existing wiring is correct)? I'm happy to do the physical parts myself, and happy to buy whatever coding interface might be needed. It sounded from the post below like there could be (at least partially)? Obviously, would love to buy from those guys if possible
  3. For anyone who has solved this, what is the cheapest way of just getting it sorted here in 2026? CarSystems.eu (link) seem to have the hardware for €350 but say "VAS / VCDS Coding after installation required - If you don’t have the required appropriate authorization to unlock SFD, we are able to help you with this or you can contact your local Seat dealer." There's an ebay seller @ £134 saying a similar thing (link), or various sellers (Googling the part number) on ebay / AliExpress selling the camera for £50-70 without any guidance on whether it needs coding or anything - so presume it would. I don't mind going aftermarket, used, whatever, and as I said, I'm not even bothered about not having the camera at all, I just don't want the error message.
  4. Is there an East Yorkshire Retrofits alternative in the South West, say within an hour of Bristol?
OBDeleven cannot flash or parameterise. Even in the video you've posted, the camera they bought either came with some random parameters on and they're happy with it, or they bought one from the correct vehicle. They didn't upload with OBDeleven

If you buy a VNCI 6154A or Godiag j2534 diagnostic adapter we can configure it remotely for you. You'd still need to calibrate it though
