Rear coilovers & strut brace

right

my rear coilovers damper bolt threaded.

i have to hold the top of the coilover with a 7mm spanner
then tighten up the lower bolt.

Why is this?

and because im trying to fit my rear strut brace
it wont tighten up as when i just put a rachet and arm it just keeps turning the damper and not the nut.

any ideas/plan of action?

are my coilovers set up wrong?

Because the damper spins freely inside the shock, therefore you need to hold it. My rear strut brace managed to tighten up nicely with the rear not jacked up.

thats true.
but how do i hold the shock?

even with my rear end on the ground the shock still turns in the damper

Try holding it with something underneath with it jacked up.
