Rear Strut Brace

Hi MK2 guys,

There is a GB on the forum for a MK1 rear strut brace, fitted mine last week and it's class.

The guy who made them is thinking about making them for the MK2 Leon, and wondered if anyone is interested in one of these ?

We were lucky with the MK1, as there was no drilling required, it basically clipped & bolted in:

He has asked me if anyone could supply pics of the boot in the MK2 without the trim to see if there any latching points ?

If so, could you please send the pics to me via email so I can forward them on. He can then work out a design & then sort out making them for you guys.

what advantage would this give in real terms. I already have very stiff arb's so the chassis feels alot stifter as it is..

It will make the rear much stiffer, an alternative to a roll cage. People get the front struts but forget about the rear.................

This is also quick release so if you wanted to fill your boot with the misses shopping, you can whip it off in mins.

rear brace would give less body flex though i find the new leon is fairly stiff anyway
will be interested to find out if they make any difference

Im still wondering why its better to have it stiffer? Will it improve my lap times? or just make my car heavier?

Stiffer means you can corner a hell of a lot better........

stiffer body shell allows the suspension to work more accurately under all conditions.
If it does make the chassis stiffer you should be able to see a difference in your lap times dan
but im still not sure it will make any difference in stiffness of the new leon shell though tbh
it will be interesting to see if someone can come up with a design for a front one

I think he needs at least 10 people to make it worthwhile to design & construct them.

its not really possible mate as far as I remember. hence my comment above.

Trouble with the front is that the strut tops are not in the engine bay there under the windscreen scuttle so some one will have to be realy inventive
