It's a pain in the ass but I went through the passenger side wheel arch liner. Takes 2 seconds to re-connect but ages to strip down and refit the liner. Only went without mine for 3 days but in this weather couldn't take it any longer!

oh bugger!

at least its warmer today, although wet. mine stopped working 2 days ago
starting to get to me. At first thought it had come off in boot.

But it's leaking all over floor - thank fook!

would engine undertray way be easier or is bottle inside arch?

I've got the same issue the jet hasnt worked in weeks

please post up the easiest way of sorting it out :)

well i started at tank by removing wheel arch liner along with 15 screws.

not leaking there!

was leaking from back of engine bay. with help of 4 year old son i located leak.
after removing air box i found there is a join in pipe behind the ABS gubbins before it goes through bulk head. Fitted these back togther.......

still didn't work.

looked in boot large amounts of fluid in spare wheel recess !! OH F*CK !!

Pipe on back of motor had popped too. Drying out boot was ok but annoying but removal of rear door panel is a bitch (Broke one clip tower off - hope glue will work)

Well 4 hours later - all fixed. :D

sh1te plastic connectors !!

If it's off near the bottle, you might also be able to get to it by taking the front bumper off.

pump and connectors are at front of wheel arch just behind liner. taking off bumper would be a waste of time.

what a pain that rear panel is. You broke clips didn't you?

i broke one of one you can see through light cluster covers neaxt to rear window. hopefully a bit of glue will hold it. I didn't break it off completely. seems to be holding so far.

on the pipe there must be 3 connection points.

bottle
just before bulkhead
rear door.

if theres one in the body above headlining thats just not good!

finally sorted mine out, removed the airbox and found the break so superglued in place and gaffer tapped up, still no jet working so thought it must be the jet nozzle blocked up but then to my amazement fluid was leaking from the spare wheel area

so 2 connections had failed

after taking the plastic trim out from around the rear seat belt and repairing this hey presto it finally works :D

No theres a fourth one as i found out on Saturday. Theres one in the panelling on the drivers side of the car behind rear light cluster like on the mk3 Ibiza.

I thought mine had come off in boot lid again but upon further investigation it was behind panel in boot as the water was running from behind the carpet.

To get to it, you need to do following;
1) remove parcel shelf
2) fold rear seat forward (aleast drivers side seat)
3) Pull the curved slam panel cover off going up driverside of car of boot.
4) unscrew the grey parcel shelf panel (seat belt goes through it) two screws are located in side of panel in boot, the third is where the seat catch is (hence folding rear seat forward)
5) Pull panel hard (only push clips so will not break)
6) Unclip/Move carpet out of way
7) locate pipe behind light unit (its taped to aerial cable and lighting cables)

Reassembly is reverse on removal.

Just thought you should be aware.

Yeah sorry mike_s14, I didn't realise you'd posted that until i finished typing mine.

I decided that as the pipes don't come off the 'push connectors' easily that if it goes again that i gonna put the pipe directly on the connector on the washer motor, as it seems that if you get the slighest bit of ice in the 'push connector', it pushes it apart. Would be one less connector worry about then.

sounds familiar

Im so glad i've the Ibiza and not got a mk4 Golf. My neighbour asked me today if i knew how to get the trim off the golf as the rear washer wasn't working on that, So i gave him a hand.

We found that it wasn't the connector in the boot lid as I originally thought, although later we found the brass pipe that goes through the motor to the jet is split in two so it was leaking also. (Needs new wiper motor assembly)

It was the next connector along. However unlike the Ibiza where the connector is in the panelling behind the rear lights so the water will still leak in the boot, in the Golf we found thats its in the roof space. :thumbd:

Upon looking further we could see that about a foot's length of the roof liner from the boot lid forward and all the way accross width of the car is a blue tint and soaking wet from the leaking washer fluid. So we came to the conclusion it been leaking for months.

Lets say the connector has now been superglued, but the car stinks of damp and washer fluid.
Hes glad we found it but not that he's got to try and get the blue stain out the roof liner.
