I went to go home at lunchtime today got into my 2007 FR ibiza and closed the door and the rear windscreen just smashed. Has anyone else had this problem?? weird !!! I was shocked it was fine going to work. could this be the cold weather??

there a few which have mentioned this on hereseems to be more and more common with the cold. have you asked the dealer if its warranty

my friend has a similar problem the other day in his PUG:ban:

he was driving along and decided back window was to misty so turned on heated rear window and *boom* window smashed

its gotta be summit to do with weather

Happens on Golfs as well. Because cars are almost airtight these days a sudden increase in cabin pressure like shutting a car door or closing a sunroof on the move will push a window out, just bad luck mate.

There are vents in the boot which are designed to stop this. Maybe it got blocked somehow?

happened in my pug in october....think it was something to do with air pressure....?

thought i had been shot at hahaha

I know some cars have features built in to prevent this happening. For example. the MK1 Vauxhall Tigra's windows open about an inch when the hatch is open, then close after it's shut, to avoid that happening.

yip the exact same thing happened to me on saturday night - got in car, shut the door, smash!!! it was -3C outside and i had been out in the car about an hour earlier so it was still fairly warm inside. Im guessing that was the problem. When i was at autoglass the next day there was an audi with the exact same thing!
