I took my facelift ibiza fr through a carwash today and the dangling chamois leather strips ripped the rear wiper arm off!!!!!!! Not happy!!! Has anyone else had this happen? [:@]

I normally do wash the cars myself, but yesterday morning I was in a hurry to get to Donington Park for world superbike practice day. So I thought it wouldn't hurt, everyone uses them, they seem popular. I even questioned the guy about the aerial and wheels (would they get scratched on the drag you through thingy). Boy was I pissed off when that wiper went!
JOHN...thanks for the offer of the arm....I have ordered a new one from the stealers.......£30 but it does come with a blade :headhurt: They say they have been modified too since my one, so I hope its made of metal and not ryvita bread!

I worked @ a garage whilst was at college, always had cars getting wipers and aerials ripped off and people complaining bout cars getting scratched! Dont be lazy, wash it urself, you will do a better job and not f**k your car up!

the bloke that owned my car before me took it through the carwash millions of hairline scratches over it it took a whole day of compound and a mop and wax to get rid of them!!!!!!!

wash it urself but if worst comes to worst and you are in a rush just use the self jet wash 1's but dont use the brush as normally they get stones in the brisles and scratch the car too buggery!

Points taken about being lazy, except I wasn't..... I do normally do it myself but was rushing to get somewhere and thought it would be a good idea to use a carwash. Obviously not a good idea!!!!!!
I got the rear wiper arm today anyway from the stealers. It is identical to my old one ( facelift type) and not modified like he said. It came with a new spindle cover and blade too for those who need to know. It cost £28 + vat for it all. I don't think I will get anywhere with the carwash and will end up putting it down to experience I think, but if I don't hear anything in a couple of days, I will chase it up.

This is true BUT ONLY if the equipment is supplied & maintained in good order - if you can prove that - for example - the bristles on the brushes should be changed every 1000 hours and they have not been; then the company/owner of the carwash is liable - irrespective of what signs say. This can be a difficult thing to prove though.

Hope you manage to get it sorted.

I agree, jetwash is good for removing cr@p from the car but i never use the brush part - also watch the rubber hose as these can mark paint too!
