Hi guys,

I've just recently rebuilt my engine and rebuilt the head with new ferrea valves ECT and currently my teething problems are blowing exhaust manifold to turbo and now are random miss fire on cylinder 4 and occasionally on cylinder 3..ive changed the coils packs 3 times with my mates ECT and its still there...

I've checked for a spark and that's there too...

Anyideas

Also if its running on idle and I unplugged each coilpack the engine would hunt for revs when I do it on cylinder 1,2,3 but if I unplugged 4 on idle nothing happens....still same engine note plus when I wipped the plugs out cyl 3 and 4 on top.of the pistons looked abit wet.maybe moist....

Hhh.mm I not sure...would that cause it to miss fire

yes it will m8. when i refitted a inletmani for a friend, cylinder 3 had missfire, checked it and the injector wasnt seated properly and plug wasnt in all the way. also as said above are you getting a good earth.

compression test would be my first point of call. especially if you have had valves out/head off.
Its a simple test, and wont take long. I take it you lapped your new valves in properly?

mate if you have no compression like you mentioned i would be worried. would mean head off again. as mentioned were the new valves seated properly then checked for leaks?

just read dans readers ride. i would be checking the valves is you have no compression on one cylinder. i hope its not the same as dans for your sake mate

Check tha there are no cracks in the coilpack harness, it's a known issue on Audis in the states. The insulation splits and arcs to earth.

And do a compression test.

Why did you rebuild the head?

its a very odd miss fire, not like compression its seems to idle fine. and even drive about town fine. but bringing the car under load it misses, 2 k - 3 k it miss fires. when i did the head there was no signs of bent inlet valves all the guides were fine and the cams turned over fine after. only the 8 exhaust valves had hit the piston heads so all were changed and lapped in, many hours to do this and sore hands.

the way the turbo is sitting its making a massive blow from the exhaust and needs sorting first so can hear the engine.
