Hi,

First thing's first I have searched about, even going upto Page 10 of the ICE section! I'm pretty new to ICE in general so if there's anything I've missed feel free to jump in and say. Oh and I've got a LCR MK1.

HU - I'd like something that can play cds as well as have a port for iPod connection, and that illuminates in red too - was thinking of the Alpine CDE-113BT - would post a link but not enough posts.

I fancy getting a sub too, but want to use very little room (always have pretty much a full boot!) - the Stealthboxz seem great but a bit pricey (I understand the reason of the pricing though) - is there anything similar but cheaper?

And I currently have standard speakers, was thinking of upgrading them to ones with great sound quality so I don't have to put any in the parcel shelf, any you recommend?

What's your recommendations?
And is that HU okay?

Many thanks,
HH

Are you wanting bluetooth then as thats the only reason to get the 113bt, if not the 112ri would be more suitable.

Sub wise if you want to keep as much room as possible look at an underseat sub or the Pioneer WX77A
http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/25/131/201/TS-WX77A/index.html

Can have anything left on it in the boot etc and is hard wearing so wont damage from it.
Speaker depends upon if you are amping or just running off the stereo you fit

No not needing bluetooth, just didn't see the 112ri model!! So thanks :)

May have to check out under-seat subs, that may be ideal.

Like I said completely new to ICE in general so not sure whether to amp it or not, would like a decent "high-volume" 'sound system' though so guess I may go for an amp.

Well the good thing with the Leon is that there are no plugs for the wiring in the doors so will be easy to feed through should you amp. The 112ri has red illumination so will match well. The downside to the underwear subs it that they can't reproduce the same level of bass of a proper sub however the pioneer unit I listed is very good. Itll be going in my van once I find one I'm happy with

Do you think an aftermarket headunit would produce the same quality sound as the factory head unit with the factory speakers?

You will have a better quality sound but alpine are focused more towards vocal and mid for your normal speakers as they are for those more wanting to build a system adding a sub but it's a minimal loss. Just have to set it up correctly (I'm not talking bass +8 lol) Set up correctly and will get a bit more bass out of it- I'm currently only running hertz dieci comps with alpine headunit running off an alpine ktp 445 power pack and it's ample bass for a normal user just wanting better quality

So, if I go for the 112ri and that Pioneer WX77A, would I just then need some decent speakers to replace current ones and I'd be good to go and would have a decent sound system in my car?

Any speakers you'd recommend?
