I need a remap!!

My brother has recently bought a 2001 Leon 1.8 20v turbo Cupra. Looks standard on the outside so nicely understated in blue but has had a fair bit of engine/suspension work.

spec:
Koni adjustables
Eibach springs
s3 antiroll bar
lower strut brace
Samco TIP
AMD remap (graphs show about 220bhp and 240lbs)
Miltek full system and race CAT

Bearing in mind I've never been out in a remapped Leon or Ibiza so only have mine to compare it with. It absolutley flies! if this is what these engines are like when remapped I have to have mine done ASAP. It pulls so hard aound 4000rpm. Not sure what psi the AMD maps are but I heard it was around 15-17 psi so a good half bar more than mine. I think he has a K03s turbo as standard aswell so that would help.

Wasn't planning on doing anymore to mine but I have to now! On my drive home I felt like I had no turbo compared to the Leon :(

What else differs on these engines as standard compared to mine?? They are both 180bhp but his doesn't seem to have all the N249 on top of the engine.

The handling impressed me aswell, not as hard a ride as mine. Just nice and flat cornering with no roll. Seats are a damn site comfier than mine aswell :(

top car

A Re-Map would make a massive difference to your cars performance .....

Get it done !?

The Ibiza Cupra R's are 180bhp aren't they...?

With 40bhp more... even considering the extra weight of the Leon, it should feel noticeably quicker.

Did you run them side by side at all...?

Yeah mines 180bhp, didn't run them side by side but trust me the difference felt huge. As soon as I got back in mine it felt so much slower. In reality his leon may not be massively faster on the road but its the power delivery and extra boost that really impressed me. Just feels like a big punch whereas mine just spools up and never kicks that hard.

hmmmm which remap to go for  can't afford the downpipe, cat and exhaust so it'll just be remap and maybe TIP for now. Should I be looking at 215bhp and 240lbs ish??

I dont think you'd hit 215 without a exhaust, more like 200-210 at the most which will soon die off coz of the stupid FMIC.

The actual difference might not be that big it might just feel faster coz of the kick in the ass of over 1 bar of boost. But side by side i bet its not a massive amount of difference between the two when you think about power to wait etc...

yeah it'll be interesting to get them side by side and see how they differ. I think it's the torque that made it feel a lot quicker. It's running around 240lbs which is a good 60lbs more than mine so even with the slightly extra weight it's going to be noticable.

For now I just want the remap and maybe source a FMIC and exhaust later in the year. What remap do you have??

yes a remap would be good but only 200BHP at best, also the ko3s will make a big differance as the ko3 dies far to early down the revs conpared. also a good intercooler will also make a big differance and as said a turbo back zorst with raqce cat is needed. so inorder to stay up with him just pump 3k-4k in to your car like i have.

Surely with 180bhp as standard a remap will give you more than 20bhp, the APR website says a 150bhp will get 200bhp.... you should keep with that Leon easy with a remap....

the dip is because the way revo delivers its power, huge spike then tails off quickley. Stage 2 solves this (to a point) but due to the aggressive map, you really need a k03s etc to hold the boost higher up.

I sat in a custom mapped car with a k04 turbo, and feck me its quick, the graph pulls all the way up and keeps above 200lb/ft at 6k. i'm certainly not going generic again :)

its the same engine as the 156bhp cupra tho

so they remap to the same hence why the R only gains 20 or so
