Anyone know what the best grade of sand paper to use for rubbing the strips down, or basicly the procedure for rubbing them down and painting them as most body shops want more than £100 to something that could be an easy diy job.

you don't bud, you'll either use the sticky strips on the old ones or buy new ones as every else has and use the sticky strips already fitted

Ano :D

Have u sanded them down awready? hehe :cartman:

Just if uve done it awready then legend, If not i am lol.

Just am hopefully getting new mirror caps and will have them all painted at once and the rear quarter

Mate thinks i should keep the Chrome 1's on to go with the wheels:headhurt:

you can restick old side strips but wont stick and look as good as new 1's

i would never do this as they never come off flat.

I did it myself on the red one and then sat there for 3 hours scrapping off the sticky, second time i asked my bodyshop guy to do it, took him 10 mins with a glue remover.

Also they should not need sanding to smooth, as the bodyshop will use a different primer which will make them smooth. thats what i did both times.

^^^ i was saying not to reuse old 1s as they wont lookas good as when removing they goout of shape! and for £20ish might as well get nice new 1s!

plastic primer will make them smooth!
