OK, home made board made this afternoon, not had chance to do anything with it. Dimensions exactly to spec, took a while but actually quite enjoyed making it up! Cost - a cut-up Amazon box, a few sheets of A4, some 50mm wide black tape, half a roll of Sellotape, a bit of printer ink for the dots and 2 hours of my time. Please excuse Rosie and Paddy photobombing the pic!
Did you manage to get it to go through the calibration?

Did you measure out the board locations? They need to be placed specifically for the calibration to work.

Where are you located?

Measured as good as I could considering there are no specific measurements published for a highline camera on a Leon 3. Tried numerous times but always the same "can't recognise calibration panels 1 and 2". Based in Leyland, South Preston

@Craig. .
I'm struggling to understand exactly what importance the board actually is, as the camera is exactly that, just a camera and surely only shows a video image out, and can't transmit info back to any board? Prove me wrong, please!

Sometimes when the camera hasn't been calibrated, the image can be a bit skewed, appearing slightly convex or slanted on the display.

I could never figure out the calibration on my Leon estate. The image was perfect, but just like you - I wanted that single remaining fault code to be cleared (to satisfy my obsessive, compulsive nature).

The boards are used to mark the central point for the calibration data to be confirmed as correct for the car spec such as wheelbase, boot open threshold, height from ground to camera etc, that's why laser tools are used to confirm the boards are located correctly for that specific car type. Keep in mind, the boards and calibration sequence is designed to be done via ODIS, which will do a lot of the heavy lifting with the process so it's expected that doing it with 3rd party tools will be problematic. Especially so with a car that was never specified with a highline camera.

I'm sure the data can be injected but I can't find my notes on the process. There are some very specific prerequisites too:

Calibration requirements

t Camera lens must be clean.

t Vehicle needs to be positioned on a firm and level surface.

t There must be sufficient space all around the vehicle being calibrated.

t Parking brake is applied.

t Steering wheel in zero position, wheels point straight ahead.

t All doors and rear lid are closed.

t There is nobody in the vehicle.

t Vehicle is not loaded (curb weight).

t Before calibration: switch on ignition.

I bet having different coloured ground under the boards, such ass grass, would cause issues, as well as too much light on the board, bleeding the image for the camera.

For example, here is a random screengrab I just took of the Passat sequence:

In this pic, the board is not level and the uneven ground under the car plus the different coloured ground under the boards are all likely contributing to the issues you're having. Could do with a cover over the board to help dim down the light a bit too but that isn't a major one as long as it's not blazing sunshine
