Revo done today - Monster Motorsport

Had the stage 1 remap done today on my standard K1 (with the exception of a pipercross panel filter fitted this morning, which imho made no difference at all!).

Also had a RR done before and after;

Results a little disappointing (from a numbers point of view) as had hoped to reach the magic 300bhp mark but that will have to come with other mods now I guess

The inlet temperatures were high and a little humid during the RR, plus the fact that I had to put normal unleaded in the other day to my disgust :(

So likely the V power I topped up with this morning probably hasn't had chance to work its way fully through the system yet.

Anyone have any other ideas why it may be down on the manufacturers claimed 240 bhp at standard or is this a normal variance given above?

All in all however very pleased with the way it drives, no flat spots and you can definately feel the increased power and gives a better sound too.

225 BHP before (15BHP down on manufacturer claims)
272.3 BHP after (12.7BHP down on Revo estimates of 60BHP increase)

Big thanks to Monster Motorsport - http://www.monstermotorsport.com/. Special thanks to Mike and Neil, I will be back soon!!

Great people and setup at Monster, if you in Leicestershire / Nottinghamshire area recommend you pay them a visit.

Next step I think has to be the intake :)

I'll see if I can get this done before Monster do the 20K service and get them to give it another spin on the rollers

Or just see if you can find another revo stage1 car and do some in gear tests side by side

225bhp is a bit weak even for DD rollers, something maybe slightly wrong their. I would have expected the DD rollers to be bang on the money at 240bhp, and the graph isnt paticulary smooth below 4k rpm.

im surprised with that, i think thats the first leon i have seen with figures below the claimed seat power. it could be down to the RR i suppose, i wouldnt worry about it though, chances are if you go to another rr you will have an extra 10-15 bhp

Well the Guys at MM have said run it for a few weeks to get the V power through and they are happy to give it another run and see if it has improved

It did take several attempts to get it up to 273.

I was more interested in knowing if there was anything on the car that may be slightly malfunctioning that could have caused the lower numbers?

MM did say they usual expected REVO to come in very close to their published figures so were a little surprised it didnt hit the mark.

Also that they normally see AIT of around 21-23 (same on any dyno) and their machine has a AIT probe which it uses to adjust results accordingly, therefore should make no real difference.

I will be booking it in with them for a service soon anyway so maybe that might reveal any anomolies.

I'm still enjoying it :)

I will get a 300bhp reading out of it soon even if its with further modding!

Thanks all for sharing your thoughts and feedback and thanks to Monster Motorsport again who will no doubt see me again soon for one reason or another :)

Any ideas of some simple checks I can do to see what maybe causing the loss?

Like split hoses or possibly my filter install (although they looked visualy fine when I checked them yesterday before my visit and not sure you can do a lot wrong with a replacement filter)

Furthermore I would have expected to see maybe 5bhp over the standard with the pipercross filter.

I'm trying not to get too hung up on the numbers but for a car with only 17K on the clock I would have expected it to be bang on manufacture numbers to start (May explain when I chopped my standard 2.0T FR in for the Cupra I didn't really notice any difference in performance?)

Still happy though, I think! ;)

AT the end of the day its how it feels on the raod that counts.
My car has always had poor performance , yours could have a problem or maybe you just had a poor rolling road session , but i do know if you start chasing numbers you will just be throwing money away , you might go to another rolling road which gives you 310 bhp as the car is now but which RR is right? , yes you might be happy because you got the figure you wanted but the RR might not be accurate and you could still have a problem?

Best thiing to do is get your car booked in for a health check and see what that comes back with , money well spent imho at least you will have a solid ground to work from.

You can always try to log your airmass to compare to other Cupras. If you can hit atleast 235-240g/s, I would think the car is healthy.

I currently have a fairly mild remap and I did clearly over 230g/s with it. After adding carbon speed intake I was able to do over 240g/s in a third gear pull.

Did monster hook it up to a laptop and check for fault codes?

Not sure, I was hiding in the waiting room watching with my nose pressed to the glass :)

The diagnostic check is not included, it will be in for a 20k service with them soon so will see if that throws anything up and maybe have another run.

I'm not really too fussed at the numbers as it certainly drives better but we all have a number in our heads we would like to see :)

It's just seemed to me a higher variance than had first expected!

Dyno's only tell half of the story, that you cars torque curve is smooth and healthy and that it's making some power (as a guide).

You can map a car with a headline figure at a point in the rev range and it doesn't make it fast in real world terms.

If it feels good, then it usually is.

meet up with another stage 1 cupra and have a few rolling plays, it will tell you straight away whether you have a issue or not.
