As ever, this may depend on the efficiency of your dealer, but it should be standard. It was certainly included when I had my 2015 Leon serviced last month.

I spoke to someone in the service dept . at a dealership this morning who said Seats only come with one years roadside assistance , so I didn't bother going any further , it's scary how little knowledge people in car dealerships have .

When you get the car serviced they should ask you if you want the free breakdown cover, they should set it up and give you a Keyring.

I had the same scenario as you where I was doing reasonably high mileage in my 65 Leon and needed to get serviced more than once a year. So, I think, to answer your question the Seat assistance will run for 12 months from the date of the service. So if you get the car serviced January 2019 but the original 2 year cover ends in August 2019 then you effectively extend the cover for 5 months until January 2020.

I don’t believe it can be arranged to defer and tag on a fresh year after the original 2 years expires.

If the service after this one falls in the period between August 2019 and January 2020 then you get another year which would put you back on roughly the right schedule.

Confused? Probably.....

I just checked the seat website and your correct only when booked online.
That's what I'd read, but when I phoned up to book my service, they said they'd sort out the breakdown recovery.

My Leon is on a LongLife plan, which is annoying as the breakdown cover is for 1 year from the service date, but it may not be due its next service for 20 months.

When I had my previous 2014 Leon which was serviced at Duff Morgan Norwich every year, I used to book the service by calling into the dealership personally, after servicing they always gave me a years roadside assistance, this was identified by a sticker which they attached to the windowscreen (no key fob provided).

The service was NEVER booked online the 4 years I had the car.

I just thought it was an incentive to try and make people fill in the forms online for their service, rather than calling up trying to get discounts and taking time away from the service staff etc.

Living in Thetford, my nearest SEAT dealer is Cecil and Larter in Bury St. Edmunds. How have you found Duff Morgans in Norwich for sales and servicing?

Steve,

Have never had a problem with them in the 8+ years I've been using them, before changing to a Leon I had a Peugot which I had serviced at their other franchise in Norwich.

I got my previous Leon in 2014 and I have been dealing with them since, I have found them to be very knowledgeable and friendly plus seem to go out of their way to assist you, more like a family run business, I remember the time I was getting condensation in a rear light,I phoned them up told them of the situation, they said no problem we'll order one in, and fixed a date for them to change it, no questions asked, didn't even want to see it first !

I forgot to add in my previous post #9 that as I live in the country, they used to come and collect/return my car for servicing and leave me a courtesy car (Mii) and didn't charge for that, only billed for the standard service on the car.

Must say they are very helpful company, although I appreciate its a bit of a journey for you plus their not situated in the best part of the city, the traffic around there is extremely busy hence its lovely that they collect/return my car.

Thanks for the info Stepdey. Might be worth a try at my next service. I'll have to see how far they come out as I work in Dereham.
I've not had any problems with Cecil and Larter, but the last time I had a service, I wanted to find out more about having a bodykit fitted. This would have been £1000+ and they were more interested in trying to sell me replacement wiperblades!

My dealer sorts mine for me automatically too with out me booking online. I did get my car serviced at the start of the month and they said they think the rules will be changing soon where you will have to book online to get it so may be worth double checking.

After reading a few things online I thought I would double check that my roadside assistance was renewed on my last service a few weeks ago. Turns out it wasn't on the last two services, so have been without for two years!!!

Brilliant, the dealer didn't do their bit, but that's what I seem to get from them.

So now to call the breakdown number again to make sure they have done what they say they now have.....

Looking to never go back to Seat because ive now found a local specialist so will have to sort seperate cover next year.

Booked our Ateca in for service online in May with Bristol Street Motors. When I collected the car, I specifically asked them to confirm that I would get an additional year's breakdown assistance. They assured me this was the case. In June did a road trip to the South of Italy and back, believing I was covered in the event of a breakdown. Last night, had to call Seat Breakdown due to a problem. They declined to help as they said my cover expired in June on the car's second birthday. Complained to Bristol Street Motors today, I've yet to hear any resolution...

I have always been sent an email from SEAT cust care around a month after my service, confirming I am covered for another year. I also get the keyfob if my last years one is getting a bit worn looking from FIFE SEAT, where I bought the car and had all my 5 services too, one of the few very good SEAT dealerships.

I’ve had breakdown assistance added at each at each service for years.

But last year wasn’t included. Apparently Arnold Clark aren’t participating in the scheme whether you book online or on phone.
The website says that Arnold Clark are one of the participating dealers. But I’m advised they don’t offer this. ...

Yeh I have noticed when I book online that my local Arnold Clark is not on the list of nearest dealers to me. (not that I would use them anyway)
