S3 bumper, AMK/BAM engine questions

Hi all,

I used to own an Ibiza Cupra, so been a member on here for a long time. Great car and I loved it, but about 18 months ago I was too skint to run it and changed over to a Clio dci :(!

It's done what I wanted, 55mpg, £35tax, 18k mile services etc. so dirt cheap to run, but it is extremely dull and I'm gagging to get back to a Cupra.

I wanna go Leon this time though and would really like a Cupra R, but current budget (about £4.5k) isn't cutting it. I'm looking at a few options to get back into the fraternity again though, so got a few questions.

Has anyone tried fitting an S3 rear bumper on a Mk1 Leon?

Can I put a BAM engine in an AMK engine car, is it a straight swap, gearboxes the same etc? I thinking of a BAM out of an S3 or TT here, but the AMK car would still have it's gearbox, just a dud engine...

Cheers guys
Andy

Thanks for the info...

I've been tempted by a car going cheap with a dead AMK engine, so just wondering what engines I could replace it with. Seem to be a few more BAM engines about on ebay.

No I wouldn't swap it if it was working just for the 15bhp as I know they remap to roughly the same!

the bam engines go for alot of many and by the time its been swapped over and engine payed for along with car, would you be saving that much. you can pick a cupra r up cheaper than before now. they have droped lots in price. i basically swaped my mk4 golf r32 replica for mine which was a 1.4 2002.

Why not do a service exchange engine rebuild on the AMK you get with the new car?
I saw an advert in Performance VW mag, claiming to do full rebuild service, using forged rods/pistons, (i.e capable of handling mods to over 300bhp) for about £2000.
It will probably be more than you were expecting to pay, but it saves buying another engine, which could also turn out to be a bag of nails...
I presume your going to be fitting other mods down the line anyway, so why chance over-straining an already half-dud lump?
Hope this helps!
