Saxo VTS or Ibiza GTI 16v

Hello wanted people's opinions as this is a dilemma for me at the moment, i'm researching for my 2nd car and it appears insurance is on my side for a change as both these hot hatches shall only cost me £1500 there abouts on insurance (not bad seeing as my current 1.2 clio was £2500).

I pretty much know how a vts will be, eating corners for breakfast and bags of acceleration (especially after a 1.2).

I wondered if anyone knew how the ibiza would stack up? mostly handling wise as power to weight ratios are nigh on the same give or take 5-10bhp. i heard the 20v turbos are like jelly through the corners, is this true with the rally pedigree predecessor?

as is i'm in favor of the Cupra with them being a little rarer and half leather interior, plus some lovely white wheels as standard.

Cheers,
Luke

I loved my saxo. Had it fully stripped with 2 bucket seats lowered 60mm all around, cat cams full straight through pipe 4-2-1 manifold and a remap. Went VERY well for what it was! Handling wise it was brilliant. I,ve also had a phase 1 clio 172 fully caged, stripped, ktec coilovers, shrick cams, rs inlets full ketc system ,whiteline anti roll bars. Spent a fortune on it trying to make it a true little track slag but always preferred the saxo more.

Issue with buying a vts is trying to find a tidy one these days. Rust seems to get the best of them unfortunately.
