Gillingham Dorset.
No worries.

Though I need to sort this out first.

F**kin' thing!
I've done the door seals and pollen filter. Had the hose pipe against the door and around the pollen filter housing and water isn't getting in there.

Jesus Christ that's bad!!!!!
I'd get you're car sign written mate

The only way to dry out the carpets is to pull them out. I did this together with my friend because I had almost the same problem. I'd been driving more than 2 weeks with a naked metal and it was fine but noisy :)
Just needed to be careful with trims and not to lose all the clips and screws.
If you have stuff to dry out the carpet and soundproofing you could do this by yourself and save your money.
But of course, first you have to find and seal all sources of leakage.

So whats the theory to the seals? Before i read the how to guide i always thought people were referring to the outer edge black rubber door seal the door has.

Is it rain hitting the windows, running into the door and working its way somehow though that pressed panel? Again i thought it would just go straight out from the door drain hole.

Just a quick update for people as I've finally stopped my Leon leaking like a sieve.

As the weekend I removed the wiper arms and scuttle tray to have another look round the pollen filter housing or any other other potential leaking points.

With the housing still in place (filter removed) I flooded the scuttle tray using a hosepipe. It was fairly clear to see where the water was literally pouring into the fan housing. Looking at the front of the housing it was leaking in along the long edge at two points.

I recently 'fixed' the filter housing with a strip of butyl but obviously this didn't fix the issue.

I removed the housing and butyl strip. Just as a bit of a test I replaced the housing and found that it rocked backwards and forwards when in position. After screwing it down I noticed that it lifted the front of the housing up, hence why it was leaking at the front, it was stretching the butyl strip apart and letting water in.

I removed the housing and found that it was actually warped, this must have been through previous attempts to remove the housing. To compensate for the bowed mounting lip I put two layers of butyl around the entire mounting face with an extra layer on the front covering around half of the mounting face.

I put the housing back and scured it in place, stuck the hosepipe in the scuttle and re-flooded it. . . . NO LEAKY!

So, anyone who reseals their pollen filter housing check it isn't warped or you'll be wasting your time by using just 1 layer of Butyl.

Now I just need to get my carpet dry.

Sun is shining tomorrow - apparently. Wouldn't of guessed it looking out the window right now.

I will be tackling this tomorrow as I'm sick of the 2" of water in the passenger rear footwell.

Had a garage replace the door seal last year for around £100 inc, so I will be checking the cabin filter (external under bonnet) and pollen filter (internal under glove box) first!!

If they're all good, then I'm gonna have to check the door seals out...

How did you get on with your fix?

I did all foor seals using the guide on here and it worked well. There are tell tell signs of where the seals have gone. Drying out tue carpet and sound proofing is the difficult bit...
