Hi guys.

I've recently bought a brand new Ibiza Xcellence Lux and was advised by the salesman to download and Install the SEAT Connect App. But when I went into my phone's app store and looked at the reviews that people had left about the reliability and functionality of the app I changed my mind about installing It. Why, because nearly every review that was given about It was bad.

So I just thought that I'd ask on this forum what you guys think? Is It worth downloading the app or shouldn't I bother? Also, could downloading and connecting to the SEAT Connect app make the infotainment screen re-boot randomly even more than It usually does anyway?

Ps : On a side note regarding the random re-booting of the infotainment screen. I've noticed that the re-booting seems to happen mostly when the car goes into an area with no or hardly any mobile phone signal. So could this also be a factor In causing the infotainment screen to randomly re-boot, as well as the already known software Issues?

Cheers guys 🤔

I never took any of the CUPRA connect stuff when I collected my car from the dealers and have never had any reboots at all. I don't feel like I am missing anything either, the car just goes great. It's only usefull if you have a hybrid I think.

I don't think the two are connected? I downloaded the Connect app when I took delivery last year but the infotainment rebooting has only been occurring this year and the dealer has just (today) updated from A896 to 1940 so 🤞.

The SEAT Connect app offers a convenient and efficient way to stay connected with your SEAT vehicle, providing remote access to essential functions and real-time information. With features like remote locking and unlocking, vehicle status checks, and the ability to locate your car, it enhances both security and peace of mind.

My previous MK4 kept rebooting on A896 but the dealer update to 1940 cured it.

Hey! I’ve got a SEAT myself and tried the SEAT Connect app — honestly, it’s hit or miss. Some features are cool, like remote locking or checking fuel levels, but yeah, the app can be glitchy and slow. As for the infotainment screen rebooting, you’re not alone — poor signal areas can mess with the system, especially if it’s trying to sync data in real time, but a lot of it comes down to buggy software that SEAT still needs to iron out.

Well they were old posts on the thread you'd hope they would have fixed the app issues by now. Early Formentors and Leon4 were riddled with issues and bought second hand, if the original owner lived with these issues and didn't get them sorted under warranty they may become apparent to new owners. Cost attached if outside warranty. SOS issue, rebooting and navigation map point not tallying with location and indeed smartphone point wandering off road, to name a few.

The connected services are free during the initial period of a year or so to allow customers to assess the benefits. After that charges apply

👍 they probably think they will have it all sorted by then. Reckon on balance you are better off taking the subscription especially in the next generation cars that use just in time to keep you up-to-date. Just in time thinking was how they shipped out cars with the issues, then found they couldn't address areas of the cars systems, only the infotainment firmware. EVs, less visits to your dealer, so you are more dependent on over the air. It cuts both ways if it goes wrong.

I don't think you'll be able to treat them as cars of yester year. The thinking behind ending connect services subscription and rummaging websites for firmware updates. Vag have been doing a good job of closing them down to keep their income stream and tinkering low.

The cars system in predictive regenerative breaking need current maps. Whilst some reject the inbuilt maps. A new road, no new maps, less regenerative breaking 🤫. Rejecting bits of the cars system including connect services can have consequences, like missing radio icons which Seat / Cupra still don't support that file update but over the air they do.
