Just a general enquiry, i own a seat ibiza 1.4 mpi, 2001 model, chill. Have been researching into getting a new air filter to replace the two standard filiment ones, was looking at a K&N universal filter, the man in the shop said it is impossible to fit to my car, but not settling for that answer til i talk to someone who knows what they are talking about. Could you please post some advice on replacing the air filter with a better one, to give tuned engine sound and increase in HP, and what steps i need to take to fit it if possible.

If your after a performance filter to replace the std (the ones under the engine cover) then i don't think anyone does them.

Or were you after an induction kit?

And you wont get much more power out of the engine with just these alone :(

Was after a new filter outside of the engine compartment, like a K&N, if a 57i universal one can it be fitted some way cos of the engine layout. The new filiment ones are like 40 pounds each from K&N, so like 80 pounds in total for something that won't give the tuned noise and make the car a bit quicker.

cheers mate looks like it might work, just an awkward engine bay to work round cos cos it will just be connected onto where the air is normally going into the engine, and i will just take out the original filiment filters, but one of the guys in the shop said it will mess up the engine.

Im not sure how it would mess it up.... You will have to wait for some who knows.

I don't think you would notice any gain with one though (performance wise)

Hi There

I have a MK3 1.4 'Chill' Ibiza and i have a 'K&N' induction kit fitted, u have to get the the 1 for the VW Polo 1.4 MPI and it fits perfect, u just have to remove the original air box and cover and run the pipe straight down.

cheers mate, but couldnt see the pic for some reason. i removed the air filter from the cover and had to cut a round hole in it to fit over the filter, but still cant fit it on.

noooo...dont cut anythin. you wont get the engine cover back on properly once you fit an air filter, i got a filter on my 1.4 and have left the engine cover off.
+ the hot aif feed from the exhaust manifold cover is still feedin hot air towards your filter!
i dont like the way it looks now, leads and pipes not covered, so am thinkin of gettin a cover custom made up.
better off than on!
