mine looks a bit like that, but instead of a cone filter i got a big round biscuit tin filter. is your breather pipe connected straight back to you induction kit cos i got a seperate breather filter with mine and thats :censored: . but i have a pipe that runs from my engine into the induction kit. does this seem right cos am sure i followed instruction on fitting it.

Just a general enquiry, i own a seat ibiza 1.4 mpi, 2001 model, chill. Have been researching into getting a new air filter to replace the two standard filiment ones, was looking at a K&N universal filter, the man in the shop said it is impossible to fit to my car, but not settling for that answer til i talk to someone who knows what they are talking about. Could you please post some advice on replacing the air filter with a better one, to give tuned engine sound and increase in HP, and what steps i need to take to fit it if possible.

o was always told it was impossible - but i HAD to fit one other day (my standard one became blocked)

so yeah, it is possible. heres proof (mine is 1.4 MPi, .cool/s x reg)

See how the plastic cover had a passage to the manifold cover too? Do you not have to put a cold air feed to that too? Or will that just survive without?

And do the spark plug leads stay in like that?

One last question as well. What diameter is the hole where the air is being fed to? Like the hole into the engine..?

psshhhh... no idea lol

think the breather filter was 8mm (my mate did most o it for me :D)

have you got air cold air feed going to that filter or have you just left it near battery! if u have just left it i think u would get heatsoak! u hav to remeber that it will get hotter under bonnet now u no longer have cover! i would get a heat shield to go with that induction kit or get a good few cold air feed from bumper

or right - no, no air feed yet. it was a rush job. had to be sorted before i started work. But that will be done next (hopefully 2moz, if not monday)

sounded nice.

before fittin, i could hear exhaust and then after 4,500rpm (not that i usually go that far), you could hear the engine and it wasn't nice.

but with the filter on, it made a nicer noise past 4,000 rpm.

performance wise, didn't add much, maybe slightly nippier, but that could just be me imagining that :D

I have got the green kit for it. Was around 80 notes but the sound it makes is quality. Only problem is it comes designed to go straight on top of the air feed, so without a heatshield it does reduce mpg considerably

even a cold air feed from the bumper wont save you when its mounted in the middle of your engine bay, but a heat shield and the air feed help, the sound of it mounted there is the best ive ever heard anyway.

Yeh ill pm you a pick mate

if you look, mine has some exhuast pipe leading to the main intake in the middle of the engine ;)

thats the one by the looks of it. Might want to pop into halfords though as mine wasnt 99.99. And also might be easier to deal with them getting you a new one if its wrong. I seem to remember it came from france or something like that.

yeah, theyre not universal as well might be why, have a look round and see how much you can get one for because i would deffinately reccomend it if your looking for one
