Its not that easy to find a cupra near me there all miles away im guna test drive a clio 182 next week. The interior on the clio is total whack and i've only sat in an fr and that felt cheap and dark though it felt better than the clio. Though tbh a fiesta st interior is sooo much better than both the clio and ibiza its just a shame the performance is to slow. By town driving i dont mean like inner city contantly stuck in traffic jams its like 30-40 50+ at times stopping and starting for mainly traffic lights/round a bouts some corners etc.
I'll probably f**k the ibiza and clio off and get an st fiesta. But i'd just be pissed thats it too slow.

ST is gash - I wouldn't!

my cupra is fine driving round town, yeah you have to wait for the power from start, depends if you want to ride the clutch or not... it can be launched... but why would you want to do that?

i have no problem with the ride, and its a lot less crashy than the other car i was looking at buying (CTR)

yeah speedbumps are a pain, but i have very few near me so not a problem... if you are on flat roads the ride is fine

Personally if mileage/economy isnt a big concern the 1.8T cupra is a safe bet. Totally different power delivery to the TDI, mine is great around town, handling is good, ride isnt the best but isnt the worst.

I think its good fun, especially as not many people know what they are and you can show alot of people up in more expensive cars ;)

But i am biased beause i have a petrol cupra and i love it :D

Handle okay but the engines are gutless. I managed to hang with one in my Clio without a whole lot of effort.

but didn't you have a 172? they're both lighter and more powerfull than the Fiesta, you'd expect the Clio to have the advantage.

I don't reckon a tdi is what you want for short trips and fun drives

My mate has a Clio 182 that hes stripped and put a Yozza exhaust on, uses it around town etc...loves it...absolutely leaves me standing too. Apparently they're reasonable on fuel too. Would steer clear of the ST, in standard form theyre very tame, rinsed one the other week in the FR.

a Clio 182 is French, a Ibiza is (mostly) German.

Is there any contest?

Against renault sport there is. The fiesta ST has a much nicer interior than the ibiza and clio and the st is german aswell! lol
Still can't choose one to buy i'll hav to wait for a cupra to test drive.

Yeah, tbh, and I really hate to admit this, but my mates 182 is really well put together..he recently rolled it on its side(long story), and all it needed was a new track rod end and a little bodywork...really iimpressed with them. Think theyre in a totally different league to your citroens/peugeots etc for reliability/build. And I really disagree with the ST interior...one of the main reasons I didn't get one, a real marmite interior.

the ST might be a nice place to be sat, but i bet it isn't when most other "warm" hatches are getting past you.
I think its daft to decide on a car based on the interior. your looking at sporty models so i guess you like performance. have a go in a blown ibiza and you'll realise its far nicer easier driving than an N/A eqivalent.

Rather be in a nice seat as in that which you sit on ;) only joking. Yeah thats the only problem with the st too under powered which is a shame. Clio would be faster from a standing start unlike a cupra tdi. But the economy and torque of the cupra is mighty temping. But unless I could find a good cheapish (under 10k) cupra I don't think it would work out cheaper than a fast petrol. Though not going to the petrol station loads would be nice once a week at the mo is enough for my wallet! lol
A petrol cupra doesn't really appeal to me. Tbh I just want a fast car to s**t on my m8's corsa vxr. They r pretty bad ass them vxr's but there very expensive and he says there not that good round the bends. But with the turbo and the low down torque there f**kin fast. A clio would get murdered by one on a motor way/A-road but a cupra tdi wouldn't!

My stage 1 fr can keep with vxr's no problem, nevermind a mapped cupra diesel. Tbh if your considering a 182 and a cupra diesel, like i said before combine the two and get the petrol cupra? Thatd stick with a vxr no problem out the box and be good for town driving and not too bad on the juice, only reason i didnt get one was the 56 mile a day commute.

edit: the way i worded it sounds like i didnt listen to you saying you dont fancy a petrol cupra. Just seems strange you dont when you fancy the diesel cupra or a clio 182

Don't fancy the petrol cupra its not top of the range tdi is. Have you seen that evo review where they took a corsa vxr, cooper s, renault 197 and a petrol cupra and they liked the petty cupra alot. And the new 197 couldn't keep up with any of them! Thats y i wouldnt buy one plus they cost a lot. I duno why they bum mini cooper's all the time I mean come on no man looks good in one. They probably are good cars but omg would you dare be seen in one no way!

Its the top of the range petrol and tdi is top of the range diesel though? and evo liked the petrol cupra allot thats why you wouldnt get one? Im really confused here haha

and cooper s's are good drivers cars, good feedback through driving one, they handle mint and feel like a drivers car but i agree you do look like a bumder!

I think their both great cars,
The only thing the Cupra has over the Clio is economy, a quick remap will improve economy and a turbo downpipe and custom exhaust system will practically eliminate turbo lag.

Its generally a nicer drive in a petrol cupra over a clio because you can ride the wave of torque, making it less thrashy than the clio. Also i believe that the ibiza in general is a more comfortable car, being dimensionally bigger as well the driving position is less cramped.

I too had this kind of decision to make 18 months ago when i was looking at a new car, and in the end decided to go with the cupra as it ticked so many boxes.

I also HATE following the trend, and the Cupra is a bit of a rerity, i must see 4 or 5 renaultsport clios a day and this is something which put me off.

I still love the comments by people as they have never seen one and wonder whats under the bonnet lol.

If you did decide to go with the Cupra, from personal experience, you would NOT be dissapointed.
