Im looking to get a new Ibiza FR, 150bhp engine mate, being 19 I would think it would cost you quite a bit, but they are insurance group 12 so shop around and see what you get, not sure what it's as quick as 0-62 is 8.4 secs according to the official Seat tech specs so it's not blistering fast but quite nippy.

Diesel in my opinion is a better car- cheaper to run, cheaper to insure, loads of torque, remap for serious power
Knowing you've got point as well Graham, think you'd be better off just ringing a couple of insurers and seeing what they say. Everyone can post what they think/pay but insurance is so personal its irrelevant. Seeing as you are in Cornwall, hopefully it would help (I assume its going to be a lower risk area than a lot of places).

Only cost £280 fully comp to insure, she is 30 though.
A friend has an Ibiza Cupra and he is only 18, costs him £1700 to insure it, group15.

i have one at age 19 got insured with norwich union but it was an update on my policy i didnt ring up asking to get insured it was an amendment but they told me that for that year it would have been 1100 thats with 2 years nc and driving 2 years! very nice cars they are 150bhp and 163ft lbs and if you go in to pics section and look under my car lost its virginity there are loads of pics of mine if your loopking for some. and if there is anything else you want to look at just let me know!

So a diesel is cheaper on insurance is it?...i never knew that! learning lots on this site! I didnt know you can even remap a diesel either! So what sort of price could i find a second hand FR for? is the FR diesel or is that something else? 150bhp is plenty enough for me! brill cheers peeps!

fantastic car- but am a petrol head and love everyting bout the petrol version, but its a matter of personal choice tho. if you want pics of the 06 FR i can post them up if you like....a lot more to it than the previous version with regard to insurance hmm with you being 19 it may cost a bit prob bout £1300 - rough guess.

my other half (28) has just had his insurance up....for the two of us (both28)........my 3 point endorsement it is around £370. he did ring around and for a laugh had a quote of £1200..............'kin avin a laugh! so it aint just you younguns that get silly quotes.......
we also had the trial software a couple of months ago to make the 150 to 196.........and jesus that is one quick motor!
very nice cars mate........get one if the insurance is right! personally i would rather spend money on a house than pay over a grand in insurance each year............
had a tussle with a civic type R last night, was interesting......thought i was a slow bird....

I had a FR TDi at the tender age of 18, driving less than a year.....
You could always go for the "Sport" in the old range, same PD130 engine one insurance group lower, and slightly different gear ratio's but generally as quick!

Anyone know the accelertation speeds/difference between the petrol and the tdi from 30-80mph?
