Hi all,

Just had my airbag error warning light on dashboard whilst parked on side road on the phone. I understand there are few possible causes such as loose cable connection either on passenger or driver side, possibly some steering wheel wiring issue (not sure about this). Anyhow I was wondering which VAGCOM cable would be suitable for connecting to my seat (it is an MK3 1.2 TSI) as at this point am lost with this.

Further to identifying and buying the cable which VCDS software is suitable and how to get my hands on it.

One more question, I am planning to run the diagnostic on auto scan and hope that it pins the issue down to where the problem is. Then just to clear the fault (fingers crossed it will go away) as I have not modified the car in any shape or form apart from messing with the seat as my wife also drive the car and am a big guy with bigger space requirements, hence why at the moment I am suspecting driver seat.

Thanks in advance for your help.;)

How old is the car and what do you mean by 'messing with the seat' ?

Hi Walone,

The car is just over 4 years old. I meant disconnecting the batteries fist to avoid accidental deployment of airbag, then remove the driver seat by unscrewing the bolts securing the seat with the chasis to inspect the connector of the airbag wire underneath the seat somewhere.

Ah I see, I thought it may still be under warranty, also when you said 'messing with the seat' I thought you may have modified it to accommodate 'the big guy'.

I had an airbag warning light come on my previous Mk 3 Leon. It was about 2 years old at the time so was still under warranty. The dealer said it just needed a software update which cured it

Grant funny you said that because my car service now message started popping up so will take it in and I hope it will be just a software update

Just to update this thread. Just took it to a garage & was told it was just a random fault & all what they did was just reset it. So luckily nothing serious to worry about

Same Issue with my Cupra 2017 with just 3 weeks out from dealr, will take it tomorrow to dealer, to see if scan can help reseting the ECU.
