I searched for an explanation but couldn't find what I was looking for.....

The service book for my car says that it is due on XX/XX/XXXX date or 10k miles after previous service, which is pretty much due.
But neither the oil or inspection spanners have come on. So do I get it serviced as it's coming up to 10k miles, or wait for one of the spanners to come on? It's not that clear and I don't want to get it serviced needlessly, but then I don't want to wait for a spanner if it should be serviced........

Seems like a stupid system. Normally it's service every X miles or wait until the car tells you it needs attention, but with the Ibiza it seems like both.

mine comes up every 10,000 miles, just had 40,000 mile service. car all ok that god.:)

Cheers for the replies.

I have just called a local independent garage near me and they have quoted around £150 for the 30k service.
The local Seat dealer I just rang quoted me £225 or thereabouts.

Hmmmmm, not sure if the extra £75 is worth the service stamp or not.

The car isn't actually in warranty anymore (it's an 03) but I'd like to keep some sort of service stamps going. Would look better if it had SEAT stamps in the book. (Although I could spend the money saved on some sill protectors and cleaning goodies!)
My only other concern is that they are gonna stick cak parts in and perhaps not use the right oil. Probably just being worried about my new-(ish) car.

wont be using seat for my 1st service. too far. will take to the local skoda who did my body work.

10k should be cheap cause they dont do much acording to the manual

mines due end of may i think. car was built on 29th may but i didnt get it till last day in june
