Hello All,

My Mk 1 Leon FR Tdi is due for its 140,000 mile service. I was wondering if I did it myself and therefore didn't get a stamp in the log book would this significantly affect resale value in the future? I know it's high mileage but the car is in good nick and has had all the parts that wear out replaced e.g. clutch, suspension.

I can get the service for around £150ish but if i do it myself it would prob cost me around £60 using decent oil.

comments appreciated.

do it yourself,as long as you keep all the reciepts with dates/mileage that what i do anyway etc.

Unfortunately people are very particular about dealer service histories!! I serviced my GlanzaV myself every 3-5000miles (well oil service). If everyone serviced their own cars there wouldn't be such a stigma about it!

Also - Just think how many 16/17 year old apprentices service cars on friday/saturday/sunday mornings hung over from the night before! (I knew a few when I was that age... cos I was out with them the nights before lol!) Think they'll put as much effort into it as you? For the sake of a stamp?

i agree, i'd prob do as good if not a better job than a number of garages as it's my car. It's got full dealer service up to 130,000 and i'm sure i could prob find a stamp from somewhere if need be!!:)
