I'm only upto 6k so i suppose mine has some improvement to come!

I'm a bit partial to putting my foot down though!

Unfortunately i dont have the patience over a long distance to test it out, im usually late for work/meeting etc so thats what i'll blame!

I got 59mpg during my 20mile drive home from work a couple of times when i've been on the phone

Raising the bar a little :)

Done over 5 miles though. Have got 65+ over 70 when I tailgated a HGV the whole way haha.

Allow me to raise that a bar little more... ;)

That is after a journey of about 2 miles.

I did take this one after about a mile but thought it was cheating slightly being such a short journey! :p

^^^^^^like it,

I will try for a pic of 999MPG average later, coast on the motorway for 20 secs after hitting reset :D

Not a real average though is it.

Nah, you can't hit reset - it's got to be a true reading! :)

As said before though, it needs to be done across at least a full tank to have any meaning and it will vary vastly from person to person depending on their driving style, type of journey etc

My drive to work (~20m) gets me 33-42 depending if i do the country roads (shorter) or motorway. i've not had 50+, fair play (at going slow)

I reckon I've got the best figure, Saddleworth to Norwich, 196 miles door to door which consists of 85 miles of M62 and A1 with the rest on normal A roads, 2 hours 18 minutes, 28.4MPG!

I have thought about driving more economically but can't come to terms with driving in such a way that I hate getting behind the wheel and I think that my overall average in FR's of around 35MPG is fantastic, I'm currently running a Freetrack and getting about 33MPG and think that's good too.

Remember lads, there will come a time when satellite tracking of your electric box on wheels by "Big Brother" will mean you won't be any position to enjoy your motoring, get your fun now whilst you still can, we're probably the last generation to have this opportunity.:D

Max miles would be better.

In that case I would thoroughly recommend the Leon Ecomotive SE or maybe a Gee-Whizz!!!

It all comes down to what the individual prefers I suppose, I like a reasonably fast car that handles well and gives a good compromise between performance and economy, I've had several Cupras but because I drive quickly I find the fuel consumption of 17-21 a bit prohibitive especially as I cover around 25 -28,000 miles a year. Maybe when I get a bit older I'll drive more economically but until then I'll enjoy my driving and continue to curse the dangerous buggers who sit at 10mph below the speed limit just to save a quid whilst causing "get on with it" drivers to become frustrated to the point of taking risks to get past them.

Just in case the Green brigade pipe up, I'll cut my emissions when China and India cut theirs!:bleh:

Hmmm... must agree that driving can be fun. And 'sunday drivers' annoy me too, especially if I'm late. But I don't think it's worth taking risks to get past them. That will make Johnny an accident-prone boy!

It's your own responsibility to keep your frustration in check, not the slow drivers'. :p

Re: emissions, we could solve the problem if we stopped eating cows in such huge quantities. ;)

I would be tempted by a Cupra after my FR but not as a main car, perhaps a 3yr old cupra that somebody has traded in.

Currently, 12000 mi/yr will cost about £1600 in a cupra as opposed to £1200 in an FR in fuel costs only.

Your wrong in your CO2 issue with india and china because of the silly UK media who cant understand basic maths

India, China and Taiwan countries emit 6,353,132,000 tonnes of CO2 per year
for a population of 2,474,914,000
which is 2.567 tonnes per person per year

Europe and the USA emit 10,050,657,000 tonnes of CO2 year year
for a population of 805,597,570
which is 12.476 tonnes per person per year

Bear in mind that most of the products that we allow us to live as we do are made in these three countries, they are doing very well to this by only producing 1/4 the CO2 that we do using what they have made.

How on earth people (governments included) in the US and EU expect these former 3rd world countries to improve their CO2 emissions and energy consumption when the bulk of the population is trying to survive whilst we live a life of luxury is beyond me.

I don't think these counties should be expected to do anything about their CO2 but they are - investment in new energy technology per head is double what the UK can muster!

I'm not having a go at you or anybody with the same opinion, i just think that western governments have done a cracking job of convincing us all - the ignorant media included - that we are angels cos we have planted a few wind turbines and give out some free insulation whilst the Chinese at al. are the evil planet destroyers who should produce all our clothes and products whilst producing no pollution or using any natural resources.

Think my rant is over now! :) you'll be glad to hear

Stuart
