If you don`t want led`s then philips bluevision are good, about 4000k and good brightness. I`m using them at the moment.

Or if you do want led`s this type are the whitest I`ve found, about 6000k.

are these ones white??

I`ve tried them, they are`nt quite as white as this type: clicky

Tried probably a dozen different types of led sidelight to find pure white, but I gave up.. they are all slightly blue. even tried amber ones for a different look!

Guys, I don't want to sound like an absolute knob.
But these lights are different to the ones on my dad's old Merc. How do I get to the sidelights out?

They are very awkward to change the first time, but they may not be so bad on your 1.2.

This is a drivers side headlight (I think your single headlights are the same), the sidelights are behind the triangular cover on the right... see it?

You need to move the metal clip out of the way, then the cover hinges on the two plastic clips then comes away. Two wires go into the sidelight bulb holder but try not to pull on these!
Instead try to grip the bulb holder with a finger and thumb and pull.

Hi, i've just changed mine today and i found if you took the indicator out first then tugged the wires, the sidelight popped out, then you have just enough room to push the sidelight back in.

And for the sidelights i bought a pair off eBay, they've got a slight tint of blue to them, as i haven't found any totally white ones, i think they all have a slight blueish colour to them

Do you reckon it would be easier for me to remove the entire light unit? If so, how would I go about doing that?
Haven't gotten round to looking at anything today.

brush.

No, cause you'd have to remove the front bumper to do that.

How long you had them in? I keep hearing the cheap ones blow quickly I a willing to spend more on HIDs 4 u ones for example if they last as changing them is literally painful as we all know on a diesel engined ibiza!

Hmm I need to get LEDs for my W8 light now to finish off!

sweet thread dude, where would i get the philips side lights from??
the link that deano put up look ok..

sorry bout the delay my friend...got em off a powerseller on the bay, ~£20 with free sidelights

the Bluevision 4K are very white with a tiny hint of blue...i just didn't want my whole cluster to come out blue like you see on most cars out there now. You won't get the same effect as original Xenons unless your headlights are sitting behind a lamp-like lense used in projector/angel-eye design headlights
