Slip In Drivetrain!!!

When I drive my Cupra tdi, occasionally when I accellerate the revs go up as if power is being bled away somewhere, instead of acellerating normally, there will be a delay and the revs will rise and no froward momentum will be felt! Even if i leave my foot down the revs will fall back and the car will continue to acellerate normally, not like a clutch slipping which would continue to slip if foot was lft to the boards!

The car only does it intermittantly, im sure just to piss me off, so that when I take it to seat they can tell me there's sod all wrong with it!! I hope ther is sum1 on ere who has had a similar problem, and its not just me going mad!!! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!!!!

that is clutch slip mate,

Mine does it in the winter months,

Try not to put your foot all the way down when under 2k revs, especially in 4th 5th and 6th, just feed the power in,

Is the car standard or remapped...?

Thats clutch slip mate. If your car is standard and still under warranty you can try to get Seat to change it for you but you will have to be very persistent as they will not replace it easily. Personally i would just get an up rated clutch fitted. Helix and Sashs are the two main clutch manufactures that people use and are both very good.

Thanks 4 replys fellas, i thought it was clutch at first, but it doesnt feel like it, only does it occasionally, and doesnt cause revs to rise all way round rev counter even when acellerator pedal kept depressed! Revs rise without transition into forward momentum and then drop, and car will accellerate normally, feels more like a prob wiv fly wheel or summin!! Car only done 17k miles so cant be too bad?? Not been re-mapped or nythin, YET! Wanna get this problem sorted first!!!
Be grateful 4 any sugestions/advice!!! Thanx 4 the replies already lads, ill let ya no how I get on!!!

Thats clutch slip mate. Happens to alot of PD cars especially after getting a remap. Do a search mate and you will have hundreds of threads about it.

your lucky you 17000 out of it mate mine started to go after 9000!!!!
Seat still claim there is no weakness in the clutch even though there are so many people with the same problem. Sisson is right, dont stamp on the throttle at below 2k revs as this will just make it worse.
An interesting point however, have no doubt that it is the clutch but mine has been into the dealer with this problem 4 times (3 services and one time at winter when really bad) and Seat are claiming they cannot find any fault or slippage with the clutch????

Cheers Kazste, its goood to get other owners advice, its weird that car only does it now and then, more noticeable in higher gears between 2-3k rpm!!! Been really cheesed off wiv dealer, they totally useless, tried to claim that never seen the fault before, but it seems obvious that it has happened to cars before!!!??? To be fair tho had masssive problems trying to get them to change a headlight which kept steaming up all the time! Seat dont seem to be the most customer friendly of manufacturers!!!!! Thinking bout having car re-mapped by Jabba Sport, and will prob get clutch uprated at same time. What is the Cupra TDI like when its been re-mapped???

not had mine mapped yet as i am still fighting Seat to replace my clutch for free and dont want anything showing up!!!
i was in the derby Seat dealer one day complaining, they were giving it the usual "just a one off problem due to the way i drive it" when another cupra tdi owner walked in stood next to me and started complaining of exactly same problem!!!! if you phone Seat UK up state when the slippage first happened then they might look into ar least partial reimbursement for you

The clutch slips usually between 2-3000 rpm because that is when peak torque is produced. If you are looking at getting a remap and clutch done Jabba is a very good place to go if they are local to you. I took my Cupra to Allards since they can tune a diesel further then anyone else in England.

try feeding the power in instead of using the acc pedal as an on/off switch,

Mine slips, but ive learnt how to drive properly and it doesn't slip at all now...

I was used to driving a zetec-s with no torque at all and then driving a car with nearly 300 lb/ft, you will need to adapt your driving style,

I like Allards alot mate. They are a small family run team that can tune a 1.9 PD TDI futher then anyone else in England and still keep it drivable so that you can use it as an every day car. They tuned my last car and are tuning my Audi this time.
