Just thought i would post it up as spent about 4 hours in the cold today stripping the whole dashboard apart to remove smart nav that came with the car, it had sensor on the window, sensor on the dash, mic on the roof lining, speaker under driver side dash, screen in front the air vents, control unit under the centre console and button on drivers side dash too, what an effort!

I had to remove it though as its a bright blue glow constantly in your eyes when driving at night and does not suit a red illuminated dash.

Now though i have a cut out in the centre console panel above the drinks holder and hazard switch etc so need a new console trim, and also there is a round hole in the under dash on driver side where the button was, and as far as im aware they arent cheap.

Tis a pain in the arse, sometimes easier to get the side cutters out. :p lol

But had to take plenty out at work before, thats not so bad though as you can drag it out knowing you are there for 9 hours, WITH heating.

Lol i know your pain removed mine last saturday, same idea but didnt have the screen, i used a vauxhall wheel bolt cap cover to plug the hole in the dash, ground it down into a circle and push in the hole from behind looks ok was guna leave the button in and use it for something (still unknown but have ideas), pain in the arse getting the mount from the screen i knackered mine when removing it snapped it in half, took bout hour n half to remove. Tim??????? something the make was i think and £109 per year subscription wen u can get a sat nav for £80 these days lol, mines in a bag under my bench at work £10 if anyone wants to pick it up lol.

lol yeah i already had tomtom in my astra so would rather stick that to the screen when i actually need to use it, its not like its used everyday.

they sell on ebay for about £80 it seems. Nothing was hard to remove with mine it was just the wiring.

lol 3 wires earth, permanent live and switched ignition live, pain was just removing all the plastic trims to get in to remove it propperly.

Yeah thats what im saying, its just having to have every trim off to feed the damn things back through. ahwell shalln't have to worry about that now, put in my old headunit at the same time and got my ipod back in my glovebox too :)
