When rooming he MAF, do u just unplug the sensor at the top, or remove the whole MAF from the silicone/ air filter!
Cheers gents, debating whether to do the Swindon - Leeds-Darlington round trip this weekend in it! (can't do that in the wife's Lupo, too much pride!)

Mine doesn't seem to smoke under hard acceleration (foot flat to the floor), when I say that I mean I can't see a smoke screen left behind me. That said, if i was to floor it taking off at night at traffic lights and I look back through the mirror I'd see plenty, but only if there's a car behind me with lights on. But I would expect that anyway.

We all seem to have different cases in this thread. In my own case, after starting up in the morning it sounds like it takes a few seconds for the pressure to build up in the exhaust as the emmissions flow down it. When they have reached the exit it sounds weird - like your filling up a narrow long glass! that sort of sound it makes as it's approaching the top.

That's when the car sounds shitty, misfiring sort of sound. Like it's airlocked. I'm gonna change the fuel filter in it, see if that helps.

I doubt it's the valve stem seals, as the car was tested a few months ago and the emmissions were .08/kg which is 10 times lower than a colleagues 2005 skoda superb.

I doubt it's the turbo seals, although i'd say most PD engines do weep here a bit, which is no harm I suppose.

If there's oil in the throttle body that's a sign that somethings up - it's a long trek up to there from the low intercooler pipe! So I think this is telling me it needs a cleaning out.

Sorted! It was the 3mm hosing coming from turbo-n75-air filter, it perished on the joins on the various areas!
Oh yeah, and the mechanic who checked it out and said there was nothing wrong with it managed to put the one way valve on the wrong way!

Brilliant! Isn't it great when you get something sorted and you can see the difference it makes!

I'm gonna take a look at the piping around the turbo. Particularly the turbo intake pipe from the air filter. When my yoke was holding too much oil it would have escaped out the breather and down into the air filter pipe and into the turbo. What I'll have to do is remove this pipe (which is fiddly enough I'd say! and clean it if there's oil in it and then check the turbo for freeplay. I can then re-attach (if there's no sign of wear) and check it again a week later. If there's oil - it's from the turbbo.

I got it for £21 off SERE in Belfast (they are on this site as well). That was nearly a year ago and I think the price has went up to £33 now.
Another set of hands would make it a lot easier to put on. I did mine myself though. I put it in place and taped it on to see if it was sitting right then screwed on on up through the bumper. It took about an hour for me to do it by myself.
Not the best picture of it the way the sun was shining:

Hi Irishman,

I fitted my splitter there last friday after work - impressive little extra!

Are those silver wing mirrors the standard ones? My yoke came with colour coded ones where they painted over red ones and the stone chippings has them showing red.

I know you can get brushed aluminium ones too. I was actually thinking of spraying mine to get them looking like the original ones again, I think they suit some colours of cars, they well suit yours!

The smoking prob cleared up?
